When I was in sixth grade 5 years ago I remember a fellow student of mine who told me that he watched a show about the 2012 Mayan apocalypse. He told me that a giant volcano is going to erupt and end the world. I later watched the show he was talking about and I remember being so terrified. The show explained how the Mayan calendar ends on 2012 and therefore the world goes with it. But the show also brought hope that if we collected the 13 crystal skulls and brought them to some temple, we would all be saved. This left me in fear for months. I was a kid who wasn't able to to think critically. How was I supposed to cope?

I remember having bouts of fear which would vary from crippling fear to slight worries and everything in between. I remember seeing tabloids in supermarkets which spoke of psychics predicting that the world is going to end soon. I even remember watching terminator 2 with my friends and upon viewing the sun destroying the world in the film (At least I think that's what happens lol) my friend says "isn't the world supposed to blow up on 2012". This sent me in one of the worst bouts of fear I've ever had, it was hard to even look at my family in fear that they would die.

Sometime after that after various bouts of fear I finally started to do some research on this issue. And it just so happens that I found this site. I read pretty much the entire site, came to it daily at one point. My fears drastically decreased. The only remaining fears I had were these hypothetical "what if the world ends anyway" scenarios (completely ridiculous I know, but it's hard to calm down the young mind when it is threatened with destruction on a planetary scale).

I came to realize why I didn't do any research on this subject beforehand. It was because I was afraid of my fears being validated. I was afraid that I would find actual scientists that would say the world was going to end.

And now that 2012 has came to past the only thing that has ended is the belief of a 2012 apocalypse. And I thought now would be the time to properly thank all of you wonderful people for allowing me to let go of these fears. You gave me my peace of mind back. You also taught me a lot about the world we live in. You also taught me that most of the people who believe in doomsday predictions are complete morons who are always wrong. I can't thank you enough.

I wish all of you administrators a Happy New Year. I hope 2013 is good to you all! :)

hi i saw the program on natgeo about a neutron star would hit our galaxy in 75 years.. astromers said it too.. and they were already planing evacuation?? i'm not kinda worried but.. just curious.. will this happen or? are they'll wrong again sorry for my bad english not my main lanaguage :-)

I can't guarantee to help you in the future if you continue to believe what the trolls and doom-merchants are inventing.

Im one of thoose scared souls that was worried sick untill today. Now 21th is soon over at least here in sweden and i was starting to calm down. And then i went to the site to thank everybody that helpt me and BAM there it was, a bunch of news that once again scared me. For all of you that think its enough debunking now, remember that my fear (and the others arround here) is not rational. Ive over come one day, and now im faced with the 23d: a day I knew about before but didn't scare me. We, the scared ones, might need you a little bit longer.

And also, What is wrong with people? why are there so many new users that keep scaring us all, with links. The last thing i read was a yellowstone euruption (i know, its a troll but still made my heart pound). I want to be able to let go of this and i realise now that this NEVER Stops!

Its after 1 where i live and there is nothing going on that is unusual people keep putting on Facebook that the 21st isn't over yet so technically we won't know for sure until midnight..ugh so annoying

Well, first off. I'm a 16 year old boy from the UK who was plagued with worry for most of December because of the failed prophecy. I heard about it years ago, but I literally forgot about it, but well, we got nearer to the time. So today's the 21'st, and its 12:22PM. We're still alive! This site debunked every possible theory and BS possible, and I want to thank EVERYONE that contributed.

Also, with the hoax ending, whats in store with the website? You can't have a website debunking a doomsday that already happened :P

It's 6:25am where I am (Eastern US) … and I remember reading last night before I fell asleep that "IT" was set to happen at 6:12am. I just woke up to get ready for work … still pitch black out & rainy … but that's about it.

Hi, I posted about my concern a month ago and this website helped me a lot, I could go through the whole month without panic and ll thanks to you. Right now, however, my whole life seems to have been suspended in a moment of deep sadness and fear… since yesterday I've been suffering from a lot of anxiety. I tried going out and distracting myself and all that, but when it is dark… I can't control myself, to make it worse my boyfriend had a coorporate party and he came home very very drunk. I feel alone and devastated because that's when I needed him most, but also I feel very scared that I might not live to see him sober up again… As a matter of fact all I can do now is cry and tremble and check the news in Australia to see if they made it through… But I am just so scared to go sleep and never wake up again!! I tried to be rational, but what's with those photos going round???? and the Rabi group on youtube spreading things about the torah saying it's the end of times???? I don't know what o do… I even considered suicide…

We're only a mere few hours away from when the great space cat Garblagh will decend from the sky on his mystical milk saucer and…blah blah blah, I bet I could make a good doomsdayer.

All kidding aside though, I'm here to take a consensus(sp?) on something.

For a short bit, I got caught up in the 2012 anxiety, but through rationality I've overcome the biggest fear of it all (aside form that one part of my brain that's just hanging in there, like a bad gremlin)

I'm less afraid of what will happen to the earth, rather than it's people. I see this 'Doomsday' to be an excuse for people to commit henious acts because 'The end is here, what have I got to lose?" I'm 22, and a pretty lax person for the most part, but some of the things I've been hearing people talk about have turned my beard gray, from "I need to drown my animals to spare them" to "I just want to end my life and not have to deal with this"

My curiousity is this: Do you think a portion of people (bigger than the norm) will do something dumb today because it's the 'end'? IE: commiting a crime they always wanted to, 'saving' themselves or their family from suffering a polar rotation or the moon from Majora's mask slamming into the earth?

If my question is vague, or I'm posting in the wrong place, my apologies ahead of time!

For years I never worried about these theory's about the end of the world but now that the day is here I'm truly scared. I haven't slept properly for a few weeks now and tonight is the same. I'm in the UK and its 1am here so there is only 10 hours to go to see what happens. I have read everything that debunks this theory and I know that what these dooms day believers say can't happen yet I have become very anxious about this as I'm always thinking what if. Has anyone got any tips on how to remain calm about this? Any help will be truly appreciated.

For those of you worried about the darkness of night tonight and the ridiculous thoughts of 'I will never see the sun again'… well the good thing is, it is ALWAYS light somewhere. So if you see it light in China/Australia/Japan right now (December 21st) then you will know it will be eventually light in your area like any other night. As the night goes deeper, you can probably see Europe/Russia in the light

ive been on this site for hours today now, and its just not sitting right, ive seen so many people claim to have seen nibiru/planet x and have proof of it, and its worked me up and got me so scared like i cant even explain it. im really scared as to what will happen tomorrow, was this site wrong all along and is the apocalypse actually going to happen? because im so scared and i just need some proof that it wont. i wont link the photos because im sure youve all seen them but im just terrified of whats going to happen? Ive tried calming down so much now and its not working i dont know what to do, can you just answer;
1; is the world going to end tomorrow?
2; what are those photos of so called nibiru/planet x?

I spend most of my time on tumblr (sad, I know) and I've seen several posts from Aussies and New Zealanders (is that what they're called?) about blue lights in the sky, sirens and noises in general and animals going insane. Someone even posted a picture, I'll try to provide a link. The thing is, you can never know if tumblr users are actually serious or just playing a big prank on us because, well, it's TUMBLR to put it simply.
So my question here is, all you guys living in areas where it's already the 21st, what is ACTUALLY going on? I figured there would be some serious people on this site, plus I've never seen anyone troll here.

Tomorrow is the big day. I'm a little bit scared because of all the "what if's" spinning around in my head.
I am a very rational person, and consciously, i know that in order for the world to end there would have to be such a horribly large force directly impacting the earth. I also know that we would be able to see such an object by now.
But subconsciously, i'm a little shaky. I'm really afraid of what could happen; Aliens, meteors hitting the earth, poles magically switching etc. I've been reading this site for a while now and it has really helped. I just have a few questions:
1.) is it 100% true that the world will NOT end tomorrow.
2.) is there anything I can do to calm myself, without making a big deal of the whole thing.
3.) Why the heck would people make up these hoaxes, in reality they should be blamed for the many suicides of people that were too scared to deal with it all.

I also know that the world WILL NOT END!(knock on wood) I'm just really scared of the what if's… I'm only 13 and I have my whole life ahead of me. But, thank-you for making this website, I will be able to go to sleep tonight knowing that tomorrow i will wake up and the birds will be chirping and the sun will rise and the world will continue to rotate and all those horribly sick people who make these things up will be embarrassed for every trolling the internet looking to scare people.

BBC Article: Is this supporting New Age nonesense?

Apologies if this has been posted before, but there is an interesting article on the BBC (I apologies but I can't link it, you can view it by going on the BBC News main website, and looking at the 'Most Popular shared' articles).

While quickly dismissing the doomsday theories, it seems to actively give New Age ideas a platform. Having interviews with people like Graham Hancock and Daniel Pinchbeck and not looking at the ideas of so called "light workers" with a more critical viewpoint.

Actually how do we measure this idea that something 'magical' will happen to humanity in an actually concrete way of measuring it? This article gives us nothing on how we are supposed to know.
