my cousen hes 17 and he was frightend about 2012 but i told him they invented this movie because on 2012 the olimpic games are going to happen.
This movie is just a junk, a waste of time!
so go out there, go watch the olimpic games and ul see nothing bad is going to happen!
Tell that to ur dad and if he still dosent listen just tell him this '' if u dont stop with this apocalypse thing i dont think u should be in this house anymore!'' just to scare him a bit ( but u dont have to say this thing if u dont want to).

It makes me really angry that people are making money off of the 2012 hype. It is definitely affecting families as I hope my post illustrates. My father is not a nonsensical person which makes this whole issue even worse! He is in law enforcement and does contracting on the side, he is hardworking,streetsmart, reads all sorts of literature and loves to do fixerupper jobs around the house. Its crazy that a book he borrowed from a friend for a little leisure reading would cause such a stir. My only explanation is that he picked up the book at about the same time hollywood and the HISTORY CHANNEL began beaming their 2012 hype. I can only hope that things get better as the date approaches. I presume once the four horsemen and the Nephilim do not show up my father will breathe a sigh of relief ( this must sound crazy to others reading this, I am almost ashamed to say my father believes these claims). In the interim, however, I am going to try to get him to listen to reason.

I think you are right about the government conspiracy as well. It doesnt help that our nation is in a recession. I listen to political talk radio every morning and I have been noticing more and more commercials about investing in seeds and survival kits! I mentioned the phenomenon to my father and he was quick to reply that the GVT was trying to tell us something, that it was proof that something was coming our way!

Thank you for your site btw. I will share this site as well as the others you posted with my father-hopefully it will help him to calm down a little bit. Its nice to be able to speak with people that understand the pain and real suffering that believers in this movement deal with. As a psychology major as well as a political science major in college,I really am afraid that we may see massacres like those that I studied in school, specifically jonestown and the Heaven's Gate Cult suicides come to mind. Something needs to be done- I think introducing people to your site is a good first step.

Boy, that is a tough one to answer. As Astrogeek suggested, you might get him to do some reading on our site, particularly the page on Zecharia Sitchen (author of the twelfth Planet). Sitchen has no qualifications for reading ancient Sumerian and none in Physics. He also said that his fictional planet Nibiru was to return in 2085. He was not happy when the 2012ers co-opted it for their hoax.
We are not affiliated with the government at all, but with your father being so obsessed with the 2012 tripe, he may not believe that. There is also good information on Universe Today and NASA Ask an Astrobiologist. There is a YouTube video of Astrophysicist Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson answering questions about 2012. I hope this will help.

I'm so sorry that this is happening to you. Getting someone who is obsessed with something like this to realize that they are obsessed is difficult. I have no idea what to tell you to do or say to him. You could try asking him to come here, but I'm not sure that it would do any good. Part of this sub-culture is the belief that "The Government" is engaged in an active deception, concealing "the truth" from the people until it is too late.

I have probably as good a grasp on the facts behind 2012 as anybody, and when faced with someone who is truly obsessed, all of those facts are useless. The obsessed person will simply wave them away as 'disinformation'.

One site that has been helpful to some people is "A Brief History of the Apocalypse" at http://abhota.info It details many past "doomsday" dates (obviously all failed).

I am not sure where else to go. I found your site while searching the internet and I am glad that there is a place where I can vent about my fathers obssession. My dad became interested in the "2012 Phenomenon" about two years ago after he read the novel The TwelfthPlanet. He began talking with a friend, actually the man that lent him the book, and as the years have gone by has become increasingly obsessed. Personally, after hearing what this 'friend' told my father I laughed because it sounded completely insane-bt my father actually bought it. Now he is filling our basement with "survial" gear. He has bought all sorts of ridiculous junk- and unfortunately the movie 2012 just made matters worse. He talks about it all the time, its almost creepy. I am sort of scared that my father is going to do something radical.. He is literally frightened, paranoid and seemily determined to live through the supposed 'end of the world.' I doubt that my father would ever do anything to hurt my family, but at the same time I do not forsee being home on dec 21st.. and If i have my way my sister and my mother will be as far away from our house as possible.. just in case.

I am sorry if this sounds crazy, but I really am frightened for my fathers mental well being. What can I do to help someone that will not listen to reason, that has an answer for every rebuttal, and has a friend that is feeding the obsession?
