The A&E Network Family, which includes the History Channel, has made a distinct change in it's programming direction, especially since 2001.

The A&E Network entry on Wikipedia has some details under the 'History' section… no pun intended.

They used to be a very reputable source for history. However, they changed management and have consequently gone from actual history programming to showing sensationalistic nonsense in order to attract more viewers, hence make more money from their advertising. Just follow the money. That's what is behind the 2012 lies.
Sorry, I missed the last part. There were NO prophecies by Nostradamus, the Maya, the Hopi, or anyone. These were all made up by the doomsayers. The modern Maya are upset that they are being blamed for all this foolishness just because a cycle of their old calendar ends. The Web Bot isn't an oracle. It simply follows trends on the internet. If you follow internet trends, what do you see? Thousands of entries about the end of the world in 2012. The reasons for this are money and fear.

Isn't the History Channel supposed to be very reputable? If 2012 wasn't something big, why would they air so many shows on it? They have numerous DVDs saying that their will be a mass extinction….The Hopi, Nostradamus, WebBot, the Mayans all said that 12~21~2012 was the end…..I'm VERY worried.
