Agreeing with Juju here, and also stating that I don't mean to drag anyone's faith through the mud, but if all things must be created, who or, what, created the creator?

And as Jim stated, this isn't even relative to the discussion of 2012.

Um then how was human life created.
…
I meant how the world was created.

Not to drag anybody's faith through the mud, but asking questions like that is circular. It presupposes creation. It's like asking, "Why do you beat your wife?"

I think there probably was a Big Bang to start the earth. But that doesn't explain how human life began

No, we have a theory of evolution to explain that, and the study of abiogenesis (a much harder thing to investigate) has made some important strides in recent years toward explaining the possible origins of life in general. Sure, none of that logically precludes the existence of some creator deity, but invoking a creator deity (in logic) on the basis of ignorance or incredulity is a fallacy. Outside of logical argumentation, i.e. strictly for personal reasons, it's fine so long as one recognizes that doing so cannot comprise a valid argument. Beyond the logical shortcomings, inserting a god into an explanation really doesn't explain anything and is, more often than not, unfalsifiable.

There is no God huh. Um then how was human life created. I'll admit i'm half and half on the who world was created by one person I think there probably was a Big Bang to start the earth. But that doesn't explain how human life began and to have faith in the fact that there might just be a higher power that created us all and tries to protect us all from the evils of this world is a good thing in my view.

They believe that the time is nigh and they believe it fiercely. Their children rant about how soon 'He' is to return, lifting all the good-and-holies up to Heaven.

Heaven is reserved for those who have never sinned in their lives. The common-human encounters at least six of the seven deadly sins within their life-time, others encounter all seven, including other sins that were excluded from the list of sins. Though some may pray with the reverend, they still walk with the sinners.

I once heard of a disease called Hemophilia, if you get a cut on your arm it will magically not heal.

Apathy, Hemophilia is not a disease. It is a genetic disorder that results in the person lacking a blood clotting factor. If not treated, it can result in the blood not clotting when a vessel has been injured. Although it isn't curable, due to the fact that it is a genetic disorder, there is treatment for it now. Hemophiliacs now have a near normal life span. You can't catch it, you have to be born with it and it is rare.

Schooled by Alene.

It's quite funny how many people think that they will be the ones who will be 'saved' when they, themselves sin just as much as everyone else. Spiting others, greed, lust, gluttony, so on and so forth. It's fascinating to me how someone could be so selfish, so naive, so self-centered as to say they're going to a magical place in the sky and someone else will not.

The fact here is, Tweety, is that even if someone is a true believer, they don't know where they're going until their time is up, those who confess and beg for forgiveness may end up in Hell.
It isn't up to a preacher, a judge, a priest, a voodoo witch or other to decide the fate of your soul.

I'm bored now. Tata.

No no no! It's not that Mormons will get what they want and predict, which is a Second Coming arising out of Utah with a big ol' giant gold star planted on their lilly-white foreheads by Jesus. No, you misunderstand. it's that the people expecting a Second Coming of 'Christ' around this time will fail to receive any heaven-sent blessing or goodness and will get mad and will want to get even and more tumult than you can shake a stick at, including lawsuits aplenty, is going to result. That's a quick-and-dirty synopsis. Now here's the true lowdown:

The Devil is currently in its final agonizing death throes. Our spiritual leaders got that much right, but EVERYTHING else wrong. In its final throes the Devil will thrash out, poison the waters, cause evil aplenty, destroy souls by the millions, embarrass folks, and generally wreak havoc. Folks who have long held beliefs in the supernatural and in unseen demigod spooks (such as but not limited to Jesus) are going to suffer deadening regrets. Folks who desired Eternal Life or Life-after-Death or Reincarnation will be disparaged and lost and numbed. All the holier-than-thou mystics and spiritualists that ABOUND nowadays (yeah look around, they DO abound!) will be thrown into what might be loosely described as a bottomless pit. All hell will break loose but none of it will be televised. The failure to share the goings-on with the general public (for fear of their panic) will redouble the Devil's anger, frustration and strength. Pent up psychic abominations will eat into people's brains. All this furor will upset horses and attract the lions. Man will be consumed from within and from without. No survivors — MARK MY WORDS!!

I mentioned the veneration of holy demigods but it goes a lot deeper than you think. Belief in the magical discerning powers of psychologists is equally abominable. They are the soulless ones who have taken without question as gospel whatever institutionalized 'profiles' were fed them in college, handed down successively by generation after generation of corrupt/prejudiced self-appointed diviners that were only the landed gentry, the rich and privileged. They sat in judgment because they could (as a dog "licks its genitals because it can", I'm sure you've heard). That line of psych assessors is by now so corrupt as to be hopelessly lost.

Ah, written like someone (perhaps a juvenile) who was sent to a psychologist, probably against his/her will, and now resents it. Understandable, but rants like that above don't do you any favors.

For example, back when slavery was legal, if a slave desired to instead be a free man, that was deemed a form of mental illness.

Maybe that was true, but are you using the state of a discipline 150 or 200 years ago to argue against its practice today? That's like condemning modern physics because Newton was wrong. For that matter, any such sentiments expressed by some "psych assessors" of the day were not conclusions rooted in the scientific method, but were rooted in social prejudices. Such shortcomings remain present in humanity to this day, but you can thank the science of genetics for eventually showing just how remarkably similar we all are.

It's been ordained since the Foundation of the World that simple time and circumstances would catch humankind up in an inexorable Gordian knot.

No, it hasn't.

The ancients knew how to prophecy alright!

Yeah, about as well as modern prophets.

In any case, I don't think this website exists to attack religious presuppositions. There are other sites that do that. You want a surefire way to alienate your target audience? Attack their religious beliefs.

Implying that the Mormon's predicted that something is happening is laughable. You may as just well say that because the Mormon's DO predict something, that it won't happen. Check out [http://www.abhota.info] and do a search for Mormon to see how many failed predictions for the end of times they have.

While you're at it, you can scan through and find that these predictions have been happening for a couple thousand years, always failing. Its also important to realize that these people you are referring to also predicted these events for the year 2000.

Science:

you - "I have a baseball"

science - "prove it"

you - "Ok, here is the baseball"

science - "You're right, you do have a baseball!"

You:

you - "I have a baseball"

science - "Prove it"

you - "YOU CAN'T PROVE I DONT HAVE ONE"

science - ???

Yes, the 2012 apocalypse threats spoke of on this site are correctly assessed as unrealistic hoaxes all. I agree. Problem is, gads of people out there, especially Mormons but also billions of others, believe in the return of 'Christ' around this time. If you want to debunk fallacy then start with the fallacy of naming, making images of and generally accepting belief in holy-than-thou demigods. The Ten Commandments are crystal clear on the subject; so clear in fact that the issue is prioritized atop the list as commandment number ONE: "I am the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not have strange gods before me". Yet over these past thousands of years it has become utterly commonplace to violate that "Prime Directive".

That's why, even though the common apocalyptic doomsday predictions are hoaxes, mankind can never ever shake its deeply institutionalized departure from meek acceptance of the basic Terms of Living. Everybody is afraid of mortality and wants Eternal Life. Ha! what fools! The price of that want is essentially damnation. Or as the sages have stated, "Desire is the root of all suffering". So yes, there will be a Final Judgment, as time and circumstances finally catch up to humanity and God will reclaim what is rightly His. Hey! ..God is all around; salvation was all around; if you get a cut on your skin it magically heals by itself. Going out of one's way to make an image to a holy demigod is insane and dangerous and I'm afraid, truthfully, when the cold light of dawn arrives, God and Nature will find that we have strayed WAY TOO FAR off track, and our species will be obsoleted, undone by its own hand. So yes, I'm so dearly sorry to young ones, but doom does lie ahead.

Institutionalized belief in a hierarchy of divining spirits is at the heart of man's conundrum. For example, back when slavery was legal, if a slave desired to instead be a free man, that was deemed a form of mental illness. Science might be fine but rigors are needed in every single scientific/medical pursuit; the lack of which reduces all to worthless babble. Yes, 2012 spells the End. It's been ordained since the Foundation of the World that simple time and circumstances would catch humankind up in an inexorable Gordian knot. The ancients knew how to prophecy alright!
