You've got to have your next doomsday closer than that in order to get the book and DVD sales rolling. 2018 - 2020 is much more likely. There's a very close conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn on - wait for it - 21st December 2020. We'll soon hear about how an error of 8 years in the correlation of the Mayan calendar has been unearthed and how this conjunction spells doom for all of us.

It won't hit in 2029, but could, depending on where exactly it passed the Earth, hit later in 2036. But the odds for that have been calculated as 1 in 250,000. And we'll know much more as time goes on, and when we can make more accurate measurements of its orbit, yada yada yada.

Come 2013 though, when our beloved 2012 has come and gone, this date of 2029 will be a perfect end-of-the-world date for the next lot of claimants.

I think that people will finally open their eyes and realize that this was all just a big hoax. Do you think that if there are enough people who agree with this statement, it will end all of the "end of the world" theories? Quite possibly that stupid astroid one that will probably cause maddness in 2029?
