Posts in the discussion thread ""Edit war" on Wikipedia's "John Major Jenkins" article" - Apparently some people don't want it known that Jenkins used mushrooms extensively while writing Maya Cosmogenesis, and that he still recommends their use in his newest book, The 2012 Story.

Well, folks, I gave it one more try: I capitulated. I deleted the parts about Jenkins advocating hallucinogen use, and added, at Wikipedia's direction, Jenkins' supposed denial thereof. (The need to give better support for the parts about "advocacy" was the only issue Off2riorob had endorsed.) Since Wikipedia had not given a source, I cited the Wikipedia administrator who had directed me to include the denial.

Wikipedia then moved the goal posts. What ensued is interesting, I think.

http://http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Major_Jenkins.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:John_Major_Jenkins#Hallucinogens.

I've withdrawn from further participation in Wikipedia.

Looks like I've lost.

That Chambers character is an example of head-in-sand if ever there was one, and Off2riorob must be his brother or something. What a telling display of bias and nonexistent editorial discipline.

I'm sorry to report that Wikipedia has gutted its John Major Jenkins Article, and there seems to be no further appeal. One of the Wikipedia's most curious reasons for removing the material on Jenkins' hallucinogen use was that my sources were "far from good".

Those sources were, exclusively, Jenkins' own writings, some of them published less than a year ago. Wikipedia was aware of this.

The intensity of the repeated attacks against that material is remarkable. (Especially the attacks by Chambers109.) See

Discussion of John Major Jenkins article,

and

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:2012_phenomenon .

Wikipedia's article on John Major Jenkins had been essentially dead for months (only minor edits), but a few people are taking exception to new material documenting Jenkins' use and continued advocacy of hallucinogens. In a post to the "Discussion" page of the article, I've noted that the evidence is clear, and that I hoped there'd be no more attempts to downplay or deny any of it.

Should be interesting to see whether his fans will allow the truth to be known.
