I've read plenty of people who are just as scared as I am and they have the same outlook..but what y'all are telling me does put me at ease!! I've been doing way too much reading from way too many websites and it's just so difficult to differentiate the information..I mean, NASA's website published an article where a scientist Hathaway, says the solar max of 2012 is predicted to be 'a doozy,' whereas others say the opposite. I mean, this is NASA for heavens sake, it just worries me!

Solar Max 24 was indeed originally expected to be on the higher side of normal, but in May of last year it was revised to "below average" sunspot activity, and the date has been pushed back to 2013.

I have a small child and one on the way and it makes me wonder why should we even bother continuing to live life only to have it ripped away from us in one way or another.

That doesn't strike me as a particularly healthy outlook. You might die at any time, but odds are overwhelmingly against death by solar flare.

Please keep in mind that weathering solar storms has been part of our planet's history for billions of years. These flares and coronal mass ejections are not new; it's just that we can now observe them in greater detail than ever before.

I first saw some articles on Yahoo back in May stating that we are going to be seeing a lot of increased activity from the sun, and the authors were stating that the extent of the 'damages' or 'consequences' could result in some telecommunication outages. Then yesterday, it was all over the internet that there were flares released over the weekend (which included fascinating pictures and videos) and they were expected to hit the Earth between Tuesday and Wednesday night. I also saw some pretty pictures of this as well. This morning when I woke up, something didn't settle quite right with me, so I decided to do more 'research' on the subject. The first site I stumbled upon (I'm convinced) was a scare tactic and along with all this theorized information of what could happen in a worst case scenario, there were links to a survival guide in just about every paragraph.

I clicked off that site and then ventured over to NASA's site and saw some, still relatively disturbing, articles where scientists say that the expected solar max for our current cycle 24 is going to be "a doozy." Are they telling us that a doozy is going to kill us..isn't that what a doozy refers to? Totally convinced (and 100% terrified) we were going to see the end of the world in 2012 because of a blast of solar flares and such, I happened to come across this hoax website and it helped to settle some of my anxiety..but I'm still unsure what to really believe. I dont understand why would ppl would even be concerned about this do you know how many time i have seen the northern light, I have seen alote in my life time and cant wait to see many. I remeber seeing the big red northern lights moving even south of us have it affected us no nothing happen.

If you here on the news it to tell there will be a great display out for the northeners thats is about it!

Have you ever bothered to ask them: "how do you know?" They are just making wild assumptions. Nasa has forecast-ed the solar flare in 2013, and the damage it will inflict. i'm sure you can find a more detailed discussion of it somewhere on this website.
As for the reason why many people are claiming that a killer flare is coming in 2012 is because they believe in 2012 doomsday themselves.
Just a few questions will solve everything.. "How do you know?" "what will you do?" "where is your prove?"

What else will happen?: Nothing. This CME is a lightweight. It is not big enough to cause damage. We get many of these over the course of the 11-year solar cycle.
We are just hearing about this one because we launched a bunch of satellites to look at the sun.
