Probably the only prediction or, prophecy that had any credibility was the Y2K incident, and that was only a minor glitch in the technology of computers, a similar glitch was found in the Sony PlayStation 3.

If you consider that most of the claims by these doomsayers are impossible, not unlikely, but impossible, the answer to your question becomes obvious. We're certain because many of these claims defy the laws of physics and as we all know, there is nothing that can defeat the laws of physics.

This is a common question here. All I can tell you is that we have looked at every single "doomsday theory" regarding 2012 that we can find (and they are still coming in), and there is not a single one that is based on any kind of logic or evidence.

None of them are compelling. In fact, none of them are convincing at all, and most of them are not even reasonable. Is that an opinion? I suppose it is, but it is an opinion that I stand by based on the evidence.

So, where does that leave you, and your fears? Well, not alone, by any stretch of the imagination. A lot of people have this generalized anxiety over the future. Things like the economy, fighting two wars in the middle east, serious threats like global warming, etc., all combine to raise the level of tension in everybody, whether you are conscious of it or not. Then when something like this comes along, it is like poking a hole in a water balloon. Everything comes pouring out, and you are hard pressed to be reasonable about it, to think critically about why you feel the way you feel.

How do you deal with it? Well, one of our members posted what I think is an excellent set of suggestions here. The only thing I would add is that you can come back here and ask questions as often as you like. We don't bite.

Well, sometimes we do, but only the doomsayers.

Do you see what I'm trying to say? The crap these woo-woos are spouting off is not going to happen, but that doesn't mean SOMETHING can't happen. No space-object is going to smack into us on 12/21/2012. No massive natural disasters unless there's some amazing ironic timing. No deadly solar flare (cause they is impossible). No deadly prophecies (cause they never has been right for thousands of years). No cataclysmic pole shift (cause they don't do that). Nothing.

But, I'm not going to lie to you. At any moment of every second, you could die. Are you going to live in fear of this fact? No? Good. Because that is retarded.

Are you going to live in fear of 2012 now? No? Good. Because while not retarded, it's silly.

You could die on December 21st, 2012. It's possibly, as unlikely as it is. But it won't be due to these doomsday theories.

Please help me with my fears. I mean is there some way that some of these people you've labeled "crackpots" could be right??

I think I need to make my own position clear. Not all of them are "crackpots": Some are bald-faced liars. Others are scientific illiterates who shoot their mouths off recklessly on subjects about which they know nothing. One thing they all seem to have in common is that they'd let their fingernails be pulled out before they'd ever admit that they might be wrong.

We, on the other hand, do admit that that we might have overlooked something. That's why we examine every disaster scenario that's brought to our attention. We let 2012 proponents debate us for as long as they wish. (Even those who block us from their own websites.) We don't want to be mistaken about 2012; we don't want to let people like you down. So far, no one has brought us anything that would make 2012 more menacing than any other year.
