The swine flu death rate is extremely low. Lots of people can catch it but very few of them die.

More people die because normal flu every year than because swine flu in 2009.

Also because a lot of people already caught it and a lot of people got vaccinated, it is harder for the flue to transmit itself.

You can look at like this.
If no one ever encountered this Swine Flue, then the whole population is basically a highway to transmit.
But the people that already had this flue and those that got vaccinated creates holes in this highway since the flue cannot jump to this vaccinated person.

I live in Mexico, and I experienced first-hand (in 2009) the damage that the international panic over H1N1 caused here. As a result, many people where I live have bought into all sorts of conspiracy theories, such as that Obama and Mexico's President Calderón had the virus brought to Mexico to boost sales by pharmaceutical companies. Others believe that the Catholic Church was a co-conspirator after the fact, taking advantage of the panic to discourage physical expressions of affection (hugging and kissing) that spread the virus.

In short, the panic has made people even more disinclined to take necessary measures for preventing real pandemics. Please do what you can to defuse that panic.

NO!

The world population cannot be wiped out with a virus.
Because we have different genetics make-ups.
Yes some families might get hit much harder than other families because they happen to have the same genetic DNA.

Also the Swine flu was less deadly than expected and on one year we have better medicines than last year.
Also a lot of people were vaccinated last year so the Swine flue cannot hop that far as last year when no one was vaccinated.

First: the swine flu it's over, according to WHO. Second: the world has 7 billions of people, thus the pandemic must to be highly transmissible. Third: the science and medicine are advancing, more each year. I think that this is hard. It would be easier a century ago, but not today…

If a black death pandemic happen today, would be very bad too, but would not have the same effect that it had in 14th century. But maybe the disease would spread faster, regarding the actual population of the world. Anyway, today the science is much more advanced than years ago…

Ok im not a doomsayer nor do i claim to know when the world will end but has anyone else noticed the recent rise in Swine Flu cases and deaths especially in the UK And US

Could this lead to a global pandemic similar to the Black Death?? i know this isnt related to 2012 or this forum but im really scared
