Yes if there would be such a planet then within half a year the Earth would have revolved around the sun so we would have a very clear view.

Even when it is coming from below, the Earth has an axial tilt of 23 degree so it would be visible for the biggest part on Earth except for the North Pole and Northern latitudes..

Also there is a very limited orbit possible for a planet X to come close enough in time and at the right place. The orbits seems curved and make it appear that it can change trajectory, but if it does not have a propulsion system like a rocket then the curvature is very determined.

I just calculated Planet X would now be 7.7 AU from the Sun.

And of course a planet that is big enough that has an effect on Earth would be huge. But we see no evidence of any huge mass entering the solar system fro the last 20 years. yes it takes 20 years for that planet to get to earth.

And to make matters even worse, even when it zips past Earth, it cannot do anything except for some gravity assist on Earth basically meaning we have a year of 360 days or 380 days.

There isn't any logic when it comes to the woo description of Planet X, certainly no logic that works in conjunction with known physics.

With objects like the proposed Planet X, you might be able to 'hide' it from sight, but the Solar System doesn't work on sight alone, we've got a little thing called gravity that tends to get in the way. We might have never seen such an object (the age old argument was that it is 'behind the sun' in an orbit like the Earths), but we sure would have seen it's effects on other planets, subtle though they may be, and on countless probes sent to the other planets - if we didn't factor in an object like Planet X, no probes would have landed on Venus, or gone on to orbit Mercury, they simply would have been knocked off course and lost forever.

The best bet for actually looking behind the Sun is from the STEREO satellites, whose image data is freely available and completely abused by Planet X proponents who don't bother to do the research into what they're actually looking at. No surprises there though…

Hello all,

Once more I hope I'm not clogging the forums with these silly questions, but this is a bit of "woo" logic I can't figure out concerning the mystical, magical Planet X. A lot of sources promoting this tenth planet hypothesis claim that it's "coming from the sun," which I guess might make sense if this guess was made recently. However, considering this theory seems to have been made several years ago, and the Earth has probably revolved around the sun just as many times, I would imagine we would have been able to get a good look at this planet without the sun getting in our way? Am I perhaps missing some bigger logical solution?
As always, your comments and information are greatly appreciated.
