A giant glowing hairball eh? Every image captured of the sun on what I believe is a daily basis looks nothing like that to me. 0.o Lol I don't know, I still wonder if he saw something about solar flares when he was younger and just became a little to much fascinated with them. About that site, it doesn't look regularly updated, I think the copyright wasn't updated since like 09 if I remember correctly. If you ever need anything or need to talk about something and have the chat thing AIM lemme know, and I'll give you my username so you can contact me on there. Same goes for Jason whenever you read this.

Gary - Yeah I understand your point. However, I don't believe that he thinks it is a hoax. I think he truly believes in what he is claiming. The guy who did the documentary can confirm this.

Diesel - It would be cool if we would have screenshot those predictions of his. None of these predictions have shown up on his website though, so I am always skeptical whether they came from him or not. Although I think his website still says that solar max is predicted for 2012, which we all know is false. I try to stay away from his site though, even if it is laughable in places.
He claims he has been dreaming about these solar flare events since 1979 or something. But he also shows a story that he wrote as a child in the documentary, about astronauts being in danger from a giant solar flare. He says the illustrations on his walls are of what he sees in his dreams. And on his website he has a self-illustrated drawing with the caption of "the sun before the 2012 event" and it kind of just looks like a glowing hairball IMHO.

To be honest with you, I can't remember the website I saw the quotes that I got what I said from. It was not 2012pro that I saw them on though if I remember correctly, that site is ridiculous and I found that out just by getting e-mails from them and seeing how much they contradict their-selves and push items for sale onto you through their e-mails. The whole "sun charging up" thing is just what I would think would be an obvious thing being said when you talk about the sun releasing some huge flare, and that what I observe is the total opposite. You said it best though that the sun isn't surprising any solar physicists and that is rather reassuring, especially this close to 2012. Also, that e-mail you got from the documentary producer was very reassuring as well. That may be pseudoscience ( about the dream things ) but I have to admit that it is very interesting and.. kind of reassuring too. I have thought about that too after learning that he never even spoke of or knew about 2012 until happening across the books that he takes his ideas from. He pretty much parrots the works of various authors, just adding in the solar flare idea. Also, weren't the dreams about solar flares endangering astronauts, and not destroying Earth that he had when he was a kid? I wonder if he saw some sci-fi movie when he was young involving solar flares and it just stuck with him. Just an idea. Anyways, I just like talking to you about these things since we can bounce ideas off of each other, same with Jason but I haven't seen him around recently either.

James all these proponents are the same. Nancy leider shouts her mouth off about planet x and zetans! We all know she's wrong and is obviously ignoring data, but she still won't quit with this ridiculous claim. Geryl HAS to sound convincing, would anyone believe him and pay him thousands if he didn't? Both you and diesel have freaked out about geryl. Why? Because he sounds so convincing. Do you get my point? He knows his ideas are silly, so by sounding sincere and 100% right, he's making himself harder to shake off. You and diesel are obviously intelligent, so he's good at what he does, which is creating an elaborate hoax.

Hey Diesel. Sorry, I haven't been around here much lately. I think you've made some good observations. I haven't been following spaceweather lately, simply because I never actually saw where PG made these predictions. I only saw the 2012pro blog say it, which I hardly believe anything they say now. I'm not implying that he didn
t say these things, just that I never saw them.

As far as I can tell the sun hasn't been surprising any solar physicists. Thats good enough for me. I worry more about the "behind-the-scenes" sort of stuff. Like the often asked question, "How could he possibly ignore the data, and continue to believe this is truly going to happen without doing any research?"

So far the only answer I have found is…well….he is crazy.

To add more psuedoscience on top of psuedoscience, apparently dreaming about the sun in a violent way means that you have pain or chaos in your walking life. It never says anything about the future, or the sun being a literal object in your dreams. I also wonder why PG always dreamed about these killer solar flares, but didn't know the year until he read Maurice Cotterell's and Adrian Gilbert's book? Odd. It is also interesting to note that we have an average of 4 different dreams a night, why does PG choose the solar flare dream to take literally? Why not count anything else? Unless, of course, they are all about how we are all going to die…than he is probably just a very paranoid person. Entirely possible.

Hmm, was hoping James would read this and respond as well seeing as me and him share an interest in this. Anybody else is welcome to put their feedback on their observation of my observations as well. :-P

Well of course, and I do understand that and agree with that. I was just pointing out how the reality of the sun's activity goes against the claims, that it isn't "building-up" and is doing the opposite by constantly fluctuating and letting off energy. You are right though, and I always remember that the mass of the biggest CME is that of a small hill on Earth.

DieselHorseLAW, your observations are interesting.

And yes every time a CME happens that means that there is one CME less for 2012 to burst.

But I again would want to put the remark that even if you have 100 CMEs going off at the same time, it won't matter at all since they are so tiny in mass compared to Earth.

So as some of ya'll know by now I am a daily visitor to spaceweather.com and it has helped a good bit in my research. One thing I have noticed is that over the past few months of increased solar activity it seems to follow almost a pattern of sorts. It will rise above 100 sunspots with an increase of high scale C and M class flares and stay that way for a bit. Then it will drop below 100 as the old sunspots decay and go back to B to low scale C class flares. My point to this is it fluctuates all the time, and is pretty interesting to watch. I was just thinking earlier about how it has been claimed the sun is "building-up" energy or it is implied by certain proponents. Obviously just from watching the constant fluctuation in activity, it is simple to see that that is not true. Make me wonder even more about the claimed "killer solar flare". Where is it going to get its energy from? The sun obviously isn't building up as I just pointed out, it is constantly letting off energy through the constant solar flare activity. I think that is where PG was going with the "quiet sun until 2012, and then it will erupt in 1000 sunspots" claim. The whole idea seems to be that the sun would stay quiet while building-up energy and then releasing all that energy at once in the form of some huge flare. This was probably proclaimed back when the sun was following that spotless trend and in a quiet state, and was probably thought of as a safe thing to say. Obviously as I have pointed out numerous times, just the past few months blow that whole claim out of the water and the more I think about it as I look at spaceweather.com at the fluctuating of sunspots and flares, the more I realize that that also goes against the claims. Just something interesting I have noticed and was thinking about.
