That is the exact same thing they claimed in 2000.
Do we have any proof of awakenings in the last 10 years?

Yes I think they go on there for reassurance. They don't want scientific answers… They want regular Joe's to get on and say "I ain't worried!" Which I can also understand. Goofy, but I can understand where they are coming from.

The question that baffles me (I have seen it a lot lately) is a lot of people are asking for "PSYCHICS ONLY!" to comment. Their question is almost always about 2012, and they wonder what is going to happen. Almost everyone who answers immediately calls them an idiot, but I have read a few people who claim they sense things say they feel nothing. One lady said that she feels it will be a period of 'awakening' for mankind. I think the last one is hocus pocus.

I don't believe in 'psychics' (especially on Y!A) but I do believe that certain people are sensitive. My family has always been sensitive to certain things (every once in a blue moon) that they would have no way of knowing, (even knowing of future events, insignificant events, but still in the future)… I think that anyone who claims to have psychic visions or whatnot of earth-changing events 2012 is full of it! On the other hand, perhaps if something large were going to happen, all 'sensitive' folks would 'feel' it… All folks I know personally who have been sensitive to this kind of stuff definitely believe 2012 is hogwash.

They have simmered down to the regular level (about 30-40/day) until the next news report of something that panics them. They may ramp up again because of the report on Yahoo that the Yellowstone lava plume is larger than they thought (no change, just a new method of measurement). They really remind of a flock of chickens. Every time something startles them, they flap around squawking for a while, then settle down until the next scare.

Yeah, people have gone back to the normal "do you believe in 2012?" questioning on YA.

These are usually interrupted by a flurry of questions about The Favourite Catastrophe Of The Month, like "Super Moon will kill us all", "LCROSS blows up the Moon", "Apophis will kill us all", "Tyche will kill us all", "aliens will conquer the Earth" and so on.

I also have a number of saved answers that I choose from according to how the question is asked. If the question is different or especially silly or panicky, I write a new answer.

I have a text file with several copy and paste standard answers which can be used to cover variations of questions on Y!A about 2012. I figure that if people are never going to search for previous identical questions, they'll never have seen my numerous identical answers.

At the moment, there are about 30 - 40 questions a day on 2012, doomsday, end of the world, etc. which go to voting. I guess that maybe only 25% of questioners pick a best answer themselves, so the total of questions asked per day is probably about 40 - 55. After the Japanese earthquake, the daily total was over 200!

My theory is that kids want their own personal answers and getting them on Y!A is a form of 'entertainment'. Doing their own research or looking up previous answers isn't very entertaining so they don't do it.

That's quite disturbing to think it could be part of the curriculum. I'm guessing when he says 'learned about it in school' some moronic teacher may have been babbling about it, or maybe just playground chatter. The homework related question could very well of been about a topic of the students choosing. Perhaps he's doing a farming course, and needed an example of bullshit.

It's good that you're taking to time to do this btw(as tedious as it might be). Taking into account the number of people who will be lead to those questions through google searches, you've no doubt put a great number of people at ease.

That's weird. Now the schools are teaching 2012 claims? Also, some months ago I answered a question on Y!A Brazil, in which my answer was chosen the best. Then, the guy who asked me said that "my son needs to do a homework about this" and gave me 10 points.
I never saw something like that.

So I have a Yahoo! account to answer the stupid 2012 questions there. And, man, the "Astronomy & Space" and other categories are flooding with questions about 2012. I answered about 10 questions in a period of 15 minutes, about this same stuff.
Why don't they read older question about 2012 before asking? 5 points lost for nothing.
Oh, BTW, I changed my username: Right now, it's 'TmyBr'. :-)
