We are clearly seeing signs of it happening already. The effects of global warming are not a continuous and steady process, they come sporadically, but with increasing frequency and severity. Ever more worse and longer heat waves, bigger and nastier storms, receding glaciers (which is a pretty obvious sign, just compare the pictures taken from some specific glacier 50 years ago and pictures taken today from the same spot).

People claiming humans have nothing to do with global warming are either outright liars (look who backs up the people claiming this is not true? oil companies and big corporations) or misled. Or in denial. It is true, it is happening, it should be dealt with. NOW.

What is needed is a massive, colossal investment into clean, renewable energy sources replacing our dependance on oil and other fossil fuels and also to the means mitigating the worse effects of global warming. Maybe even methods extracting the extra carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and turning it into something useful. Also more efficient recycling technologies and systems etc.

I used to sack groceries a few years back and almost half of my customers brought reusable bags… If this kind of stuff catches on more in everyday life, can something this big really be averted? My science teachers (well, most of them) seemed to think the whole global warming/climate change thing is a hoax… But there seems to be a good amount of people who can vouch for both sides, however it seems that more folks on here tend to lean on the climate change side.

To be optimistic, it's not a hoax, I guess it's getting an old problem, seriously. Nowadays, everybody (sic) knows what's the global warming, and everybody is aware about the consequences and doing something (if they really care about our planet) whenever it's possible. About your science teachers, ice cores are melting everywhere, there is piles of evidence "proving" the global warming real. Maybe they were joking, but if they were serious, they are completely misinformed. And they are not the only ones, many people believe it's a hoax, maybe because they just don't want to believe it anyway.

Most pseudo scientists assume that when thy find one cause then all other causes are none existing. If a volcano creates a winter then for them humans are not the cause.
reality is that AND humans AND volcano AND solar input AND …. all have an influence at the same moment but the humans have the biggest influence right now and also the one we can alter. The side effect is also a cleaner city and world.

BUT, politicians misuse the global warming for their own political agenda to get more taxes and do not use that money for making this world a better place. These people should be controlled.

Still, it's not the end of the world, and many of the problems associated with it can be averted or at the very least lessened. (And they ought to be, because climate change is hurting not only plants and animals, but also people.)

Evidence overwhelmingly suggests that humans are the major contributor to climate change over the last century or more. I have to go with the evidence.

Coral reefs are dying because carbon dioxide acidifies the oceans. Polar ice is receding, which over time can result in flooding along coastal regions and the extinction of life that depends on the ice. Rising temperatures can affect weather patterns over the long-term, possibly increasing the severity of events like hurricanes and droughts.

It's already a problem. If unmitigated by cleaner energy sources in the coming decades, it will become a serious problem over the next century or two.

It's an issue and it requires attention but I reckon we ought to turn to dealing with the issues more than trying to prevent them because after all, they will eventually happen anyway.

When? The world is changing and when do you think bigger changes will come I would say 2050…

You say 2050, some scientists say 2020, other scientists say 2100. The major changes are happening, but you just don't feel them yet. The temperatures can rise 3ºC or more in this century. The sea levels can rise a few centimeters. You can expect more hurricanes, etc… honestly, there is more to happen.
