is probably a desperate attempt to make people think that something has happened on the day of his prediction,

That's just it isn't it. He's never going to admit a failure, he's just going to look at the particular days activity and say he predicted it. "hey look, something happened on the sun on the day I predicted it would". You can see a pattern with these doomsayers, they seem to think solar flares, earthquakes, bad weather etc are all new things that have never happened before.

The guys a complete crank, it's depressing to think there are people out there actually falling for this headcases ideas. Remember, these aren't his predictions, according to him they were from the Maya. The civilisation that had no electricity but apparently knew the magnetic properties and the polarity of sunspots they probably couldn't even see. It's first class lunacy.

Geryl seems to have mastered the art of predicting days of particularly low solar activity. According to spaceweather.com, the activity on July 15th consisted of nothing more than B3 class flares, almost as low in intensity as they come. See the classification here.
If you extend the window to July 14th - 17th, you only get a maximum of B8, still particularly low.

I notice that his quote after an earlier failed prediction: "April 18-19, 2011: Sunspot Complex from 2 sunspots + 5 C flares + filament" is probably a desperate attempt to make people think that something has happened on the day of his prediction, hoping that they won't know that C class flares are again entirely common and unremarkable. It's rather like predicting a hurricane and hoping no-one notices that the wind speed only reached 5 mph.

Give it up, Patrick. Even your guesswork is a failure.

It will be interesting to see what Geryl's mind comes up with for this one.

I don't think it matters what happens, he's just going to keep saying he's right. There was zero flare activity but of coarse mr I'm 100% sure has said that if the complex eruption didn't take place on his specified dates in July, then it would happen in October. WTF does that even mean? That's got to be the most weasel worded prediction I've ever heard.

So his specified dates have come and gone. So how many flares or complex sunspots were there? As for flares, you can go to http://solen.info/solar/indices.html and see that there were absolutely zero flares. As for complex sunspots, they were pretty tiny and nothing notable.

I wish this guy would come back here and explain why his prediction failed yet again. It will be interesting to see what Geryl's mind comes up with for this one.

I can't help but wonder if he reads this site sometimes.

That would surprise me, he doesn't seem to want to know about his mistakes, he just wants people to shut up and take him seriously. I tried to get my head around his nonsense, I really did, but reading it actually made me feel unwell. The guy has serious issues and dear god he is in love with himself. Makes me want to puke.

Funny, because looking at the sun today, it looks a good bit different than April 19th. There is no "really big" sunspot like there was that day, but there are quite a few sunspots. The ones there are are quiet however.

Uh oh, it's July 15th, one of MC geryls (the master of cat-a-cleesims) "predicted" dates for "complex negative" sunspots arriving on the solar surface. Having tried as hard as I could over the last week or so to look at his claims on his website and make any sense of them, I'm still none the wiser. It appears to me that since his failed prediction April 19th, geryl has changed his claim. Before April 19th, his claim was:

A complex of 2 negative sunspots will appear around the following dates…

He then pedicts the next two dates as April 18-19th and July 14-15. So all these so called predictions are involving his "negative sunspots" and every prediction before April 19th was "confirmed" by him with the alleged appearance of these negative sunspots, as you can see from Geryls page:

August 1, 2010: One Negative Sunspot and a Complex eruption + 1 C flare
October 25-27, 2010: Negative Sunspot Complex and 4 C flares
January 21-23, 2011: Negative Sunspot Complex from 2 sunspots + 8 C flares

Ok we all know he thinks these negative spots are his brainchild to a certain extend and he's made a lot of noise about these complex negative sunspots being predicted by the Maya. But, rather oddly, his apparently "spot on" prediction of April 19th says this:

April 18-19, 2011: Sunspot Complex from 2 sunspots + 5 C flares + filament

Note the "negative" part has mysteriously vanished. It now looks as if he's saying simply that sunspots will appear. His prediction for July is:

A complex of 2 sunspots will appear around July 14-15-16-17, 2011.

Again the word "negative" is AWOL, so this prediction is basically saying that 2 sunspots will appear some time in a four day period? Why has his negative sunspots suddenly become unimportant to him? I don't know, but since his entire sunspot theory seems to relate to these complex negative sunspots, I find it weird that he isn't claiming to predict them anymore. He goes on to say that these sunspots will be "something similar to the sunspot complex of April 19th," but that tells us exactly nothing. "something similar" could mean anything. Am I looking at this the wrong way as it really looks to me like he's backing away from these "complex negative sunspots".
