In the end, I have nothing of particular value to offer to the conversation here except this: Anyone with half a brain will visit the 2012hoax "about" page (shown in his video), read it, and realize that he's gotten his boxers/briefs in a wad… over absolutely nothing…

However, the entrant seems to be on the crazy side, claiming as 'proof' a video of Don Yeomans talking about the discovery of Earth's first Trojan asteroid, 2010 TK7, by the WISE space telescope about a year ago. He doesn't seem to have considered the fact that there might just be a slight difference between a 300 metre lump of rock no nearer than 20 million km which has never been imaged from the ground and a object bright enough to be clearly visible next to the Sun in broad daylight.
He and Sangstar should get in touch. They would seem to have much in common.

I see nothing wrong in using alternative names on the internet, particularly when dealing with the sort of cranks, crackpots, nutcases and, let's be honest, mentally disturbed individuals who are involved in the 2012 area. There have been two occasions on which I've confronted these sort of people in chat rooms and been openly threatened with legal action (which never materialized). A fellow skeptic was told he would be "hunted down". There are some really unbalanced whackos around online. Secondly, I can't see any way in which using an alternative name, or not revealing personal information, makes any difference to verifiable scientific facts. I also, of course, applaud those who do use their real names.

He tried the name angle with me earlier on, I can only guess he gave up with it when he couldn't find anything, despite me pointing out to him that only two characters in '3WMElliott' - my 'fake, hiding behind an Internet name' account - weren't found in my name. And one of them is the 3.

What I've done is … uh… I've contact the "union of professionals" … ok? … and which is the "American Federation of Teachers", and I've put in there … uh … a number of question … uh … concerning this particular individual, which, as soon as I get an answer I will get back to you guys. In the video he records his screen (with a camcorder), and shows the questions that he submitted to the American Federation of Teachers. Below I have transcribed as much of the screen as I could see. The parts that I inferred are enclosed in square brackets:

The rest of the video is consists of a rather pathetic self-promotion (apparently he submitted a picture of 'Nibiru' to a National Geographic photo contest) correction, as pointed out below it was a picture submitted by a third party and a capture of a news story featuring Mike Brown (the man who killed Pluto), which is interesting in and of itself, but I fear has been misunderstood (surprise, surprise) by Sangstar1. In fact, his entire YouTube channel is filled with videos and playlists with interesting titles like "Vatican Prepares for ET Disclosure", "Global Warming Tax Swindle", and "Enki is Humanity`s Father and Creator".

So, in order to save sangstar1 some wasted time, I think I'll answer some of his questions, and question some of his assumptions.

1) I, Bill Hudson (aka 2012hoaxorg on Youtube, aka Astrogeek aka 2012hoax aka 2012hoaxadmin on Facebook aka @2012hoax on Twitter aka 2012hoax on Google+) do not have a PhD, nor would I need one to teach, if I were a teacher, which I am not.

It appears that one of sangstar1's shortcomings is understanding the English language in its written form. In the page that he links to in his video I discuss how I became involved in debunking the 2012 doomsday. He's obviously read the page from some of the comments he has made elsewhere, but apparently fails to understand the following:

I am not a teacher, nor do I claim to be a teacher. I volunteer to give astronomy presentations in school classrooms, wherever they will have me². Furthermore, in the video he tried to link to³ in his 'question' to AFT you can hear me say the following:

How I became interested in the 2012 doomsday hoax is because … uh .. as part of my amateur astronomy I enjoy giving classroom presentations to kids, especially in the 3rd and 5th grades of elementary school here in California is where they teach astronomy. So in the third grade they teach about the solar system and in the fifth grade they teach more about other stars and stellar evolution and stuff, and so I began giving classroom presentations, a 30 minute powerpoint and a question-and-answer period about astronomy.

So we can assume that sangstar1 also has a difficult time understanding spoken English. Again, I am an amateur astronomer, I work in information systems for a small manufacturing company. I am not a teacher.

This presents a problem for sangstar1, because he has emailed the "American Federation of Teachers", who will have never heard of me.⁴

2) You do not need a PhD to teach elementary school.

Education standards for elementary school teachers vary by state, but California has the strictest requirements in the U.S. In order to teach elementary school in California you generally need a 4-year college degree (preferably a liberal-arts degree), you need to have graduated from an accredited post-graduate teaching credential program (equivalent to a Masters degree), have completed an internship as a student teacher under the guidance of a mentor teacher, and have passed the CBEST (California Basic Educational Skills Test). Note: No PhD is required.

A little bit of time spent on google would have informed him of this, saving the AFT a waste of their time, and him some embarassment.

3) Leverage

Apparently sangstar1 thinks that he has found some kind of lever that he can use against my credibility by attacking my 'credentials' and questioning my 'qualifications to teach'. Sorry, sangstar1, you're very wide of the mark. Since I give presentations as a volunteer, all that is required is for the classroom teacher to ask me to give the presentation. In addition, there is a well-known program that attempts to achieve this very same partnership, called Project Astro:

Project ASTRO™ is a national program that improves the teaching of astronomy and physical science by linking professional and amateur astronomers with local educators.

See the word 'amateur' in there? That's what I am. By the way, the Project ASTRO Training Workshop for 2012-13 school year is July 27-28, 2012 (Friday and Saturday) at the San Mateo County Office of Education Redwood City, CA. 4) I got invited to SETI

Well, sort of…

What this shows is that sangstar1 is also reading the 2012hoax facebook page, which is where I had posted this information. And it's true, I was "invited" to SETI(con2). SETIcon2 is open to the public, and the 'invitation' came through a personal communication in the form of "I hope to see you there".

Big deal.

I suppose Hoagland could go too, if he really wanted to. So could sangstar1. In fact, by the power vested in me as a public citizen in the United States of America, I hereby invite sangstar1 to come to SETIcon2. Hopefully he'll come and learn something.

5) I 'maliciously attack' researchers

In the comments above, Sangstar1 claims that I have "… a website in which he maliciously attack researcher and yet when you pose a critical question he always cry out."

Well, second part first. Sangstar1 got his head handed to him in the comments on David Morrison's video The Truth about Nibiru. Several members of this website have staked out the comment section of that video as a place where we will defend science against pseudo-science. For that video, at least, we will not allow the conspiracy theorists and Nibiru believers to attack science, NASA or Dr. Morrison unopposed.

Somewhere along the way, Sangstar1 became convinced that Dr. Morrison and I were having people "with fake names" flood the comments:

The 'taxes' angle was rather funny, considering that a visit to his YouTube profile shows that he maintains a Facebook page, which claims that he lives in Australia. I am fairly confident that no tax revenue from Australia funds NASA, which leaves out the only actual government employees I know of that are associated with that video (Dr. Morrison and whoever runs the 'NASALunar' YouTube account).

I'll point out that I wasn't the only target for his accusations. In particular he singled out bikenbeer2000:

As for the 'cry out' part, I have no idea where he's getting that. I did "call him out" on name-dropping my real name in the YouTube comments, perhaps he thinks that is "crying out". I don't know. It's a puzzlement.

As for the first part, I make no bones about it. I am royally pissed off at various proponents of this doomsday hoax, including Flynn. People who don't mind terrorizing others for a buck or two are essentially economic terrorists. They steal by creating fear. So yes, I will subject any 'proponent' to the same degree of questioning, and I hold them personally accountable for every suicide or suicide attempt associated with this hoax. That includes you, sangstar1

Is that somehow unclear? David Flynn was profiting from the sale of his books and videos which dealt with various conspiracy theories including the 2012 doomsday hoax.

In conclusion, sangstar1 has apparently scored an 'own goal' with this video. It makes him look really bad, in a creepy cyber-stalker kind of way, displays his inability to understand basic concepts, and ultimately shows that his 'arguments' are hollow. However, I'm keeping an eye on developments, and when I think he has crossed the line, I'll be contacting the appropriate people.
