They are not in a crowded theater, but they are getting the same reaction. It was simply a similie. It is responsiblity for your actions. They choose the action of creating the reaction by their decision to lie about the doomsday crap as opposed to the person in the theater creating the reaction by yelling fire. Same thing, different venue. Either way, you are choosing your words to get a certain reaction.

Except they aren't in a crowded theater. They're on the Internet, in bookstores and, in some cases, at venues where people pay to hear apocalyptic bullshit. Disclaimers abound, and I've made my opinion on this known in other threads. Criminalizing doomsday rhetoric is a can of worms that I don't think most people would care for in practice.

Have to agree with rankflash on this. These people have a responsiblity for the chaos and mental anguish they cause. Ok, ok, maybe not cut off their heads, but putting them in prison for many many years and taking away their assets to distribute to charity would be a good start. Freedom of speech comes with responsiblity. You don't yell "FIRE" in a theater without getting into big big trouble. What these doomsdayers are doing is the same thing, often worse.

A Dead man does not learn the lesson, at least not in a way that we can yet confirm.
Slaying a Doomsdayer only makes them a martyr, and we have enough of them already.
The best weapon to use is intelligence, to make them be seen as the fools they are.
Though I might add that should their actions lead to the senseless death of another person, then by rights, that Doomsdayer had best be held accountable for their actions.

These scientist were held responsible for not predicting mother nature, then why can't the government or officials go after those who wrongly predict the future for profit

Just wait til after the 21st, and then watch chaos unfold as those that got pulled and tricked and lied to will begin the hunt (not all of them will but there will be that few wanting a piece of these cranks). Geryl and all these other cranks will be living in fear for quite some time after this year, knowing there will be people after them! And on top of that, karma may eventually meet them with some bad news too, for those unlucky to run into it :)

I notice he's asking that anyone who wants to survive in Morocco should e-mail him. I thought his survival location was in the southern part of Africa. Perhaps his unsinkable boat wasn't ready in time because now he can take the train to Spain and a short ferry trip across the Strait of Gibraltar. He can come back the same way. I'm sure a return ticket will be cheaper than two singles.

You cannot hunt them down physically.
But you can spam their blogs, FB, Youtube clips the same way they spam other peoples blogs.

Ridicule, and scaring them that time is up for them and they are about to become the laughing stock of the world because the promoted the 2012 and it failed! Don't threaten them with real physical danger or directly. But tell them that in less than a month they will be exposed as frauds, liars and creepy guys and they will have a lot if pissed off followers. Also that they will lose their friends that they scammed for fun.

Don't waste time in debating them, just every day tell them that they have 27 days left until they are exposed as fraud. 26 days left when they will be exposed as frauds, 25 days left that they will be exposed as frauds. Use the same count down trick they use. Make up imaginary story's telling that Nibiru is failing. When they claim they did not put a date on it, ignore that and keep on pretending that they did claim the end would be on 21 Dec 2012 (In reality they did put a date on it, they are just covering their tracks because it is very clear that nothing is going to happen). Use the exact same techniques these people did on you. If they explain why Nibiru does not show up, ignore that and make up a new claim that shows that Nibiru is not coming. Call these people sheeple and tell them that you are searching for the truth. Yell at them that they provide disinformation.

With a little bit of luck you will attract more followers that will question these people and these people also start to fight back when they realize that they have been scammed.

People stop being a victim and fight these scammers and doomtards back. Take back your life. And with a bit of luck you will also save other people from harm right now.

It is a lot like when people complain about Wal-Mart. Sure I hate Wal-Mart and do not want one in my neighborhood.

But the problem is, the only reason Wal-Marts pop up everywhere every day is because people, (yes, even many of those that say they hate Wal-Mart and everything they stand for) shop there.

If you want Wal-Mart to go away, stop shopping there, period!! Same with doomtards; if you REALLY want them to STFU, (lord knows I do,) stop listening to them, watching their videos, visiting their site, etc.

Like you said, it is a circlejerk, i.e., cycle. It just needs to be broken, and it can be. It just takes more than one person, that's all.

Where are the lines? Where does 'having an opinion' end and 'fear mongering' begin?

You can have a case for fraud if someone knowingly sells unnecessary goods or doesn't deliver on promises or whatever, but in many cases we simply aren't dealing with those kinds of people. We're dealing with people who genuinely believe the rubbish coming out of their mouths. That's not illegal. It's just rather silly.
