But some fool probably thinks that the alignment creates some gravity shadow and that shadow would tough Earth.
Sadly for him, gravity permeates everything and it is always on, no matter what is in front of it.
Proof? During a Solar eclipse we do not float around ;-)

I feel like such and idiot when it comes to science, physics, and math. Ask me anything about literature, psychology, how the human brain works, and even anything medical (that's the field I work in) and I can talk all day. The other stuff, not so much lol.

Moon vs Jupiter, which of the two has the bigger pull on you on Earth?

You'd be correct in saying Jupiter is the bigger, the more massive, it has a greater gravitational influence, but, because it is sooooo far away compared to the Moon, that pull is sooooooooo much weaker, meaning the Moon has more influence on you on Earth - so much more that all the planets combined don't even reach 1% of the pull the Moon has over you.

So, even if you're massive (a planet, a star, even a black hole), if you're really far away from something, Gravity is so weak that you just don't have a noticeable effect. The inverse square law just describes how much weaker that pull you have is, according to how far away you are.

Lol well I always have dreams that I have super powers, sometimes I have laser vision, others I can fly, others super speed. Does that mean anything? No, I just wake up disappointed.
I also tend to never know how to fully utilize these powers in my dreams either.

I was freaked out for a second or two, but then realized that wasn't even possible (they are claiming it will happen due to a pole shift). I have a degree in psychology, and found it interesting that one person had that dream, posted it, then several more people came forward with the "Hey! I had that dream, too! Must mean something…" mentality.

Weeeeell the pull of Gravity isn't uniform on Earth, there are 'hotspots' where it's a bit stronger, areas where it's a bit weaker, but noticeable by humans? Not at all. As you say, big lump of mass, going be pulled toward it.

Gotta say though, as dull as it is going through the forums moving topics to where they belong (the next 'What are you doing Friday?' thread better be careful…), seeing the odd gem of a mind-numbingly stupid claim like this does raise a smirk.

No, gravity can never be lost. It can lose it's attraction as you move farther away from the earth, for more information try googling "Inverse Square Law by Newton"

Jeez, they get worse. Gravity depends on mass and distance, so as long as you're standing on the mass of earth there will always be the same gravity.

Soooo I was lurking on ATS (I do that from time to time). It is really interesting how a lot of the members are actually debunking 2012 claims now. However, one person had a dream that we are going to lose gravity on Friday. Now a dozen or so people are coming forward and saying they had the same dream.

Is it even possible for us to randomly lose gravity? That has to be the one of the most wild claims I have heard so far.
