You can add this to the list of predictions that show the end of the world. The claim is that the unique design of the air ducts and passageways inside of the great pyramids can be used as a callendar to predict the end of the world. I like the History Channel when they stick to the past and actual history but I keep seeing more and more of this junk as time goes on. There is enough interesting facts and events in history that they can show that will inform and educate people without pushing bad ideas on people about what may or may not happen.
Hi Douglas;
I have heard whispers around the edges of the 2012 hoax, that the Egyptians also tied in somehow. However, whenever I dig in I get a different story. This is at least the third version of the "Egyptians predicted 2012" story that I've heard.
So far we haven't tackled the egyptian angle, because it appears to be a tiny subset of the 2012 hoax, kind of tossed in for support of the other claims.
Do you have a link to a website making this claim? I can take a look and see if there is anything I can dig into.
Unfortunately I dont have a link. I came across it while watching the "Hysteria" Channel. I thought it was silly. I was reading through the forums and I must say you guys do a great job with keeping people informed. Kudos.
JHC!! Everyone and their freakin' sister and horse is predicting 2012 as the end, if you listen to the charlatans.
Who's next for saying 2012 is it, the Greeks? the Romans? the Huns? the Incas? the Eskimos? the Bushmen of the Kalahari? the Celts?
No doubt some crackpot will come along between now and 12/21/12 and say some other ancient culture predicted it. (rolls eyes)
I'm a Near Eastern Archaeology major so I googled it just for giggles.

You have to love these golden nuggets of truth:
"In the year 2012, the earth awaits a super catastrophe: its magnetic field will turn over in one go." - Sounds scientific enough.
"Nearly the whole earth's population will perish in the apocalyptical happenings…This discovery will have enormous archeological and historical implications. Archeologists and scientists will see it as an invaluable insight into the technologies of a hitherto undiscovered race." - Because after our entire species is almost entirely destroyed, we will have nothing better to do than go on archaeological expeditions Indiana Jones style.

The ancient Egyptians cracked the genetic code and spoke a language made up of lightwaves. Apparently.
"Along with many ancient cultures, they believed DNA came
from the stars and was destined to return."
It seems like fascinating stuff. Too bad reading it makes my head explode. The Egyptian correlations to 2012 are so scattered I'm not sure what exactly the connection's supposed to be.
I don't think the Egyptians would have made a connection to the date
of Dec 21 2012 and anything significant happenings other than the movement to a new age. I believe that we will enter the Aquarius age on or around that date and may things may mark it, like the retun of a son/sun of God to assist us with this transition. The Egyptians worshipped their numerous Gods and based on the age we were in and venerated their old Gods as wll. During the Age of Taurus their Gods and Pharaoh's names took on the Ram' ses or similar title, to designate the
Taurian age they represented. Anyway, noting the DNA reference above, in my astronomy class, I was quite4 startled to learn.
that the planet Jupiter's famous red spot (Jupiter is known an the planet of Kings. It is said thagt
a king must have this planet in his birth chart) has been spectographed and has been found thatg
it consists of either one of two compositions. A spectograph is used by astronomers to measure
the wavelenghts of any given object or matter, and the colors on the bar it produces is able to identify is material
composition. Well, Jupiter's red spot is either a gas, I forget which one now, or HUMAN DNA./
My professor worked on the first Voyager mission to Jupiter for NASA and I trust his statement,
although you won't get this when you 'google' it, I just tried myself since I forgot the other
possibility. Makes you wonder though, doesn't it?
I have'nt heard about this before but when I saw that it was from the History Channel I stopped care, it's basicliy rubbish then.
Just keep in mind that the History Channel is try to scare you for money, they also are saying that the Mayans predicted the end of the world witch is completly wrong. :P
I hope the History Channel is getting cancel'd in 2013. I it is in my opinion the worst channel on tv.
Hope it helps. :)

2012 - The year of the jackpot.
Today there was a program about 2012 on history channel, they said that it is in the bible, is it?
Please answer me this, is there something to be worried about? :(

No. I don't suppose they even cited a chapter and verse? 2012 is *not* in the Bible, although various groups have been using some of the apocalyptic passages from Isaiah, Daniel and Revelation to claim that the end of the world is just around the corner for well over a thousand years.
Please answer me this, is there something to be worried about? :(
No. I plan on throwing a "It's not the end of the world" party on 12/21/2012.
"Do you ever think about things you do think about?" - Henry Drummond to Matthew Harrison Brady in Inherit the Wind
No they just said that the bible also states that the world is coming to and end, then they used that to the 2012 stories
Hi Erik,
The Bible never mentions 2012. It does state specifically that Jesus said no one will know when the end is to be, not Him nor the angels, only God will know. Although religion isn't the focus of this site, that statement is made very clearly in the Bible. I would think that, for Christians, 2012 would be eliminated from consideration as a possible end time since everyone knows about it.
Hi again Erik,
The Bible talks about the end times, but never says when that is to be. All the "signs", wars, rumors of war, earthquakes, pestilence, have been happening throughout history. It seems that every generation has thought they were living in the end times. It is no more true today than it has been for the other thousand times it has been predicted in the past.
Okay, I was kinda scared becasue in the 2012 trailer a guy is saying that it's in the bible.
Erik,
Just remember that 2012 movie is just for pure entertainment. Those hollywood producers really dont
know what they are Talking about. I saw it. I thought it was funny when they said neutrinos were making
the earths core heat up, and making the earths crust unstable. The effects were awesome. Especially
the yellowstone eruption. you know the history channel said nostrodamas predicted the tsunami in
indonisia. They picked the reading where he was talking about rushing water. I love the program on
history channel where they say we have had ancient astronauts, they quoted the bible there too.
Just take what the history channel and any other says about the end times with a grain of salt.

I wouldn't believe anything they say in that movie. It was made strictlly to make money. They aren't concerned with facts, just selling tickets. They also claimed that the Mayans warned us. A lie. They (Sony Pictures) invented the phony IHC with their fake "survival lottery" and pretended it was real in order to market the film. I'm boycotting Sony because of their despicable tactics, spreading fear to sell tickets.
All Of this stuff about 2012 is very confussing and it does scare me. If the mayas didnt predict the end of the world. Then did the egyptians? I try not to worry about it but i also think its ver interestin.
Hi Kelsey,
Actually, there were NO predictions that the world would end in 2012 until modern charlatans invented them. After their previous predicted dates passed without incident, the wackjobs and frauds wanted to continue selling their books and doomsday merchandise, so they needed a new date for their phony doomsday. They latched onto the misinterpretion of the end of this cycle of the Mayan Long Count calendar as their new doomsday. Then they invented a bunch of "ancient prophecies" to go along with it. Don't let it worry you. It is just unscrupulous marketing.
poshninja u r HILARIOUS brown fedora and a whip I would probably look sexy too
