Somewhat off-topic [I'm not going to refute Geryl since I'm nearly cosmically/geographically-illiterate; he could be right for all I know] but I found this article from Google-Belgium:
http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=hp&hl=nl&js=y&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nieuwsblad.be%2Farticle%2Fdetail.aspx%3Farticleid%3DGUK2HPTRG&sl=nl&tl=en&history_state0=&swap=1
The translation here is extremely rough and difficult to read in places. But Geryl is now demanding Emmerich and company pay him no less than 10 Million Dollars [for his "safe shelter"], even so-much as threatening legal action action against Sony and Emmerich.
Without getting into a scientific debate, this further cements my belief that Geryl — while being able to barf up a lot of semi-convincing "sciencey" sounding words and sentences in interviews and books (such as in the interview he gave with ProjectCamelot where he actually came out sounding like the "educated" one, mainly because he was being interviewed by two water-brained dolts who kept arbitrarily bringing up Nibiru and the Annunaki for no apparent reason) — may not be the person he pretends to be.
A good deal of the 2012 visionaries I actually believe, right or wrong/sane or batsh*t crazy, are sincere in their beliefs. Pinchbeck, Jenkins, Stichin (well… he's more like a 2085visionary), Calleman, and maybe Arguelles I think, after viewing their stuff, are probably sincere in their ideologies.
Geryl perplexes me.
Several long months ago, when the trailer for Emmerich's "2012" was first released he was promoting it like crazy on his MySpace page, assuming because it "got the word out" of his Sunspot/Megadestruction theory. Now he's running around demanding money to ensure him and his group's survival….
Seems legit on the surface, but I have to ask one basic question:
1) How is he so sure he has a chance of surviving? And why would he want to?
Hypothetically speaking, if all the events he claims were true, why would it matter how prepared you were other than your location? All the power grids are dead, the sun is blocked out completely for 70-100 years; the world is enveloped in complete darkness and all the remaining land is covered in feet of ash from all those megavolcanos that erupted*, this is not even to mention the radioactive clouds that touch upon everything causing the survivors, even safe in their bunkers, to mutate into extras from "The Omega Man."…
Harnessing any kind of mock-technology, even the most basic kind seems to prove somewhat futile, due to the cataclysmic irreversibly events that the Earth has undergone. Geryl and gang would be lucky to find a sickly cockroach to suck their nutrients from; I don't see his seed shelter working up-to-par for more than a few years at max.
Geryl seems like a depressed narcissistic idiot demanding to be taken seriously and given respect and love. Hell, even in "The Orion Prophecy" he takes relish in the world cataclysm and dreams of a time in the future where it is only himself and a team of pert, young 20 year old girls who has to repopulate the Earth while they are sailing across the globe in their unsinkable boat (like "Waterworld" as if Russ Meyer directed it I suppose… which would probably result in the girls declaring a mutiny and throwing Geryl overboard in the end). Even the way he writes is drenched in superlatives and self-centeredness. "I, Patrick Geryl, am the most important researcher of our or any time!" he mind as well be saying — and he actually does say this, in third person, on reviews that he obviously wrote for his own books on Amazon (under the pseudonym "Shanta from Belgium").
Geryl claims he disproved Einstein's theory of relativity and was hailed for doing so in the Scientific community roughly 20 years after the fact. I'm still trying to find evidence of this outside of Geryl's own website.
*Oh, and about the Supervolcanos erupting…. I'm interested why there is no geologic evidence of this happening for at least the last 7 times of this great 10,500 year cycle [I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for the Toba eruption 74,000 years ago].
