when i heard about 2012 i became soooo scared, i suffer with anxiety and this has now become one of my biggest fears. I cannot watch trailers for the film and i hate to hear anything about it. i actually think its disgusting for people to create a film that is going to cause so much anxiety to people. my main worry is the people that claim to predict the future and say its going to happen/ What woule be their motive???? Ifs its not true then why would they predict it?? Surely if they thought it was rubbish then they wouldnt say it coz if it did'nt come true then thats their prediction career ruined right?? i hope someone has an answer for this coz im really scared…..
The motive for most of them is simply money.
The best example is the year 1999, they had predicted that the world would end in the year 2000 so in 1999, everyone rushed out and they bought books, they bought survival kits, they bought food and water, they even bought other supplies such as TV's, radio's and a bunch of other junk that they never used.
A failed prediction really doesn't ruin their career, in fact it only gives them more popularity for what ever reason.
Take Charles Manson for example, he ordered people to do disgusting things and yet he's one of the most popular "serial killers" in America. So something negative really doesn't ruin very much, depending on the people who choose to follow them, of course.
The fact is this; There have been predictions of the end of the world since the 1300's and probably much, much earlier. In modern times there have been predictions ranging from 1944 up to 2012, currently there's a second one in circulation which is 2011 and then other people say 2013, others say 2020.
Keep this in mind; While the popular motive is money or greed, sometimes there is no motive, sometimes that particular person just wants to see the world in panic.
Hi Nikki,
I'm sorry you have been frightened by this hoax. As Posh said, they are doing it for money. They are selling books, "survival supplies", and of course the movie. This same group of people have predicted the end of the world before. Each time the predicted date passes with nothing happening, they just tack on a new date and they're back in business. Don't let them scare you. They are just making money and they don't care about how they are affecting people.
this isnt a hoax We are all [censored]

Familyguy;
The goal of this site is to dispel the 2012 nonsense.
There is a 'Debate' forum, which is separate from the 'Comments' section. If you would like to enter into a debate regarding the merits of the 2012 arguments, then one of us will be happy to accommodate you in that forum.
However, your style of argument does not bode well for your success in this engagement. If you would like to make the argument that a catastrophic event will occur, then you need to bring the evidence to back it up. Simply asserting that it is true does not make it so.

Thanks guys for replying to my post. It has helped alot. I just wanna know why the history channel are showing programmes about 2012? what does it have to do with history?? have they always had programmes on the history channel when they thought the world would end? seems weird
It used to be that the History Channel had shows about… well… history.
Along the way I think their ratings slipped or something, and an exec decided to go for the sensationalistic shows in order to boost them.
Understandable motivation, but I think they crossed a line when they decided it was OK to scare people for their ratings.
