Hi, Simon. I know how bad a relapse can be. Lord knows I had a few myself. Everything is going well, and then just the smallest thing would be enough to send me spiraling out of control again. It's normal in any sort of recovery. Be it chemical, psychological or physical (lord knows that every time I even SMELL someone smoking around me, I get tempted…).
Over the holidays, I took a "bull by the horns" approach and watched Knowing. While the movie was LAUGHABLY BAD, it's worth noting that there was a special feature on the disc that goes into a surprisingly rational, scientific discourse about the whole notion of Armageddon. The primary thrust of which, was that the whole concept of an "end of time" is almost purely a Western construct and perversion of traditional stories and myths. They further go on to state that 2012, specifically, is nothing more than the end of a calendar cycle, and that the Mayans never had any special designs for that date.
Most reassuring of all about this particular featurette? Every last one of the scientists interviewed seemed to be grinning and some on the verge of laughter at the whole notion of the end of the world occurring any sooner than 4,500,000,000 years in the future.
Four billion years from now? I'm gonna go ahead and file that under "not an issue."
Again, I went off topic, but hey…I'm just so good at it.
