I was listening to the radio and on the radio station I was listening to they had an advertisement that Wednesday Jan 6, 2010 the history channel will be airing the nostradamus effect and it is talking about the 2012 prophecies and predictions and after hear this same advertisement a couple of times I amn starting to get scared again can somebody please tell me what I should do because I am getting very scared.
That program is absolute BS. The Hysteria Channel gave up showing History and truth in favor of getting higher ratings with sensationalistic crap. My advice is don't watch these shows. If you do decide to watch, just make sure you know that Nostradamus wrote in riddles and even Nostradamus scholars don't agree on what his writings mean. Also, he never mentioned 2012. People only decide after something occurs that Nostradamus was referring to it in his gibberish. Also, the people they show on their doomathon are crackpots, not scientists. Just approach these shows with a healthy dose of skepticism.
History Channel and Disney Channel contains a very similar amount of truth, none.
The History Channel are running these kinds of shows for one simple reason, money. Here in Sweden National georaphic Channel are running one rigth now I'm watching it and there is nothing that is true.
History Channel is lying, 2012 will not happen just becasue a no life producer is allowing 2012 shows go on air 24/7 :P
My only advice is to not watch History Channel, don't give them ANY of your time. :)
2012 - The year of the jackpot.
Yeah, History Channel sucks now. Can you believe, that they are now showing a new doc. on a island in the Pacific that a scientist says links to the Mayans!? I mean, what can they think up next. I hope this website will study this theory and give us the truth about it. FYI the program is called "Apacolypse Island".
Hi George,
This is the first time I have heard of that one. I guess there is no level to which they won't sink for ratings. I used to enjoy watching actual history programs and considered them a credible source. I'll have to check that out and see what crackpot scenario they are using to come up with it.
Thanks Alene,
I am glad that you will be able to study this new idea and debunk it. I already think this is just another fake science theory. Can't wait to see you guys debunk this.
when does that apocalypse island show come on?
You can check your local listings for it.
on my tv is says the nostradamus effect not apocolyse island?
Hey wait? I know it's on History Cancel so it's most likely BS, but how in the world can you call something ''apocolypse island''? It does'nt even sound good, I mean ''Decoding the past'' sounds a bit more interessting but how can some one relate an island to a doomsday?
As far as I know there migth have been a tribe of Mayans on some island, but thats no reason to think that it is a huge nuclear land mine :P Ahh I'm sorry but this is just stupid, History Channel, phaahh I've got nothing to say.
2012 - The year of the jackpot.
Read the David J West page. He watched it and wrote a review. It is going to be on again Saturday night at 9 (I didn't check to see if that is Eastern time).
(edited to add a link to the relevant page - astrogeek)
Seems like it was the history channel that had the show a couple of years ago about finding a dragon skeleton in the mountains somewhere. But that time about half way through it they finally told you it wasn't real….they've lost all credit for me
I also remember seeing that show because the show's description had attained my interest.
It read along the lines of "A hypothetical documentary of if a frozen dragon had been discovered in *** mountains (if I remember right, the mountain range was the Alps), and how scientists would examine it" (Year) (Fantasy).
For those of you who may not have seen the show, the show began with a team excavating a mountain range (Swiss Alps?), and they discover a frozen dragon perfectly preserved. The show also showed how the theory of dragon evolution may have evolved if such a discovery occurred from during the time of the dinosaurs-medieval times due to myths through mythology. The show had also gone through what the team would do if such a discovery had taken place such as a dissection of the dragon, which the show depicted as capable of flight through a similar manner as how a balloon would through glands running about the length of the dragon, and how researchers would examine and explain its ability to breath fire by comparing its mechanisms between a type of beetle capable of launching hot liquid and a feature crocs have in the back of its throat. The show had also showed how the researchers would react if the discovered dragon had showed a lack of evidence of ever breathing fire and how they'd recognize this, and the delimma that one of two human corpses had been burned to death. This prompted the team to further excavate the area discovering the adult dragon, who had killed the burned corpse, and another corpse. The show also showed how the team would attempt to explain why dragons had gone extinct.
At least during the time of this show's airing unlike the Nostrudamus Effect, the show's description outrightly admitted that this was a hypothetical documentary of fantasy.
I actually watched the entire "Nostradamus Effect" last night. Terrible.
First, they go out of the way to say at the beginning of the show that they "Neither endorse nor refute" the idea… but they're lying, because they then go on to have 10 different "pro" people and only 2 skeptics… one of which was Hugh Ross (a creationist)! I guess it's a bad sign when the 'documentary' has to try to convince you of their impartiality!
The amount of time given to skepticism was perhaps 3 or 4 minutes out of the total. The rest of the time you're listening to Pinchbeck and Joseph and some others that I'd never heard of before (including the president of the Nostradamus Society of the US!!!!) ramble on and on and on…
The deep-voiced narrator asks the same rhetorical questions over and over "Does 2012 mark the end of time?" etc., meanwhile nuclear explosions, people holding signs saying "the end is near", war footage, etc. fills the screen.
Oh, but they're not "endorsing" it. Nope. Not at all.
Idiots.
Mm yes I saw that show, they made you belive that dragons where real e.t.c and then when it was aout 14 minuties left they told you that this show was nothing but BS.
2012 - The year of the jackpot.
Yep that one! And of course on the history channel this week it's "armagadon week" because the movie "the book of eli" is coming out. I just refuse to watch that channel any more…why give them the ratings?
I believe that fall of 2012, the history channel will make an attempt at retreating all of their fallacies. Or just stop airing the shows come January 2012, hoping everyone will forget by December that they supported the idea (and in many ways, created it).
I just saw the apocalypse island show because it sounded interesting. As I watched the show, I kept thinking "when are they going to actually show the details of this monument?" Needless to say, they never did. There are no details. It isn't a monument. It was the biggest waste of two hours I've ever spent. What a bunch of crap.
What a bunch of crap.
That's right! A huge bunch of crap and nonsense, pseudoscientific trash and garbage. :-D
History Television Canada is not putting this crappy stuff of dooms day as much as they did last year. Many have made complaints so now they are putting real History content.
I have sent the network many time say what does 2012 or any stupid doom day have to do with History.
The only close apoclypse that human kind has was WWII.
And maybe in the 80s as the stupid cold war almost cause a nucl war thank god it did not happen!
