I found this site from Mike Brown's blog. I'm obviously no scientist so I have some trouble following what the article is about. Many of the Niburu proponents are suggesting that this has something to do with why scientist have a hard time believing it exists.

Anyone care to put it into layman's terms?

The article in your link begins: "The Binary Research Institute (BRI) has found that orbital characteristics of the recently discovered planetoid, "Sedna", demonstrate the possibility that our sun might be part of a binary star system."
The mere name Binary Research Institute sets off my baloney detectors. It sounds as if someone is setting out with the premise that the Sun is part of a binary system and is then trying to find evidence to prove it. This is classic woo-woo methodology. One of their other claims is that precession of the Earth's axis is due to this unseen companion star. This I know to be nonsense, so I wouldn't place much faith in the findings of this Institute.
I'll finish with a quote from the Bad Astronomy forum:
"There are several things which rule out such an object out to quite a distance (half a light year IIRC). One is the measurements of the many millisecond pulsars, which would show a systematic movement of the Sun and Earth as influenced by a mass of as little as a few tens of the mass of the Earth. Another is the observations of the orbiting IR telescopes, in which the dimmest Red Dwarf or Brown Dwarf would stand out pretty brightly if it were out there."

Thank you for the response.

Seems as though spacedaily.com isn't a great reference according to one of the members of the baut forums. Their articles are not written by scientists.

Just so everyone knows, I also asked David Morrison from NASA the same question. He simply replied "There is no such thing!" Kind of harsh, but I will take it and continue to respect his overall knowledge of astronomy and biology. I was expecting a little more discussion from him, but unfortunately he seems to be getting tired of the psuedoscience that drifts his way.

I kind of want to see a little more discussion on this topic though. Even some of the more frequent posters were juggling ideas on the forum link you gave.

I asked him several question and he never said anything more than "it's not true". Kind of disappointing.
