My question is did anyone ever hear about this "prophecy" before the year 2000? Not many if any I am sure, so this is a new phenomenon. It is just sad how many people are sucked into this enormous lie. The first time I heard it, I knew it was hype. How many times since this world began have people set the date for the end? And look how many time they were wrong! I believe in God & ONLY HE KNOWS when it will end! Our children should not have to worry about dying in a worldwide disaster every decade or so as the trend seems to be! Yes there are things capable of devastating global destruction in our age as never before, but I do not believe in living in fear every waking moment of my life, & that is exactly what THEY want us to do!!!

Hi Lori;

The earliest mention that the "end date" might be a reference to some kind of apocalyptic religious idea of the Maya actually occurs in 1966 (I think the author was Coe).

However, that went mostly unnoticed until Arguelles started his whole new age thing in the 1980s, then others picked up on it (like Jenkins, Pinchbeck, Joseph) in the 1990s.

Oh, okay. But still it is amazing that every so many years someone somewhere comes up with a new end date. I am just glad that you guys are here to show everyone who cares to understand about what this is all about. Our governments, (& yes most of them in the world)
are just trying to scare us into submission by sensationalizing these stories so we will cooperate with them!
