I received the following message via email, and thought that I would address it here.
I'm sorry but after reading your comments about the proponents you are incorrect as the majority do not say that 2012 will be doom and gloom, they say it will be a time of transformation. I'm guessing you, your partner and the "anonymous" people you created for support didn't do much research into the "proponents." I have personally for the last three years and just so you know anyone else that has done more than 5 minutes of research on these people will see right through your website. I read just as many 2012 hoax websites and interviews as I do 2012 Transformation websites and interviews and believe me I can tell when someone has "observational Selection"..such as this site.
I'll address this message line by line below.

I don't think we make the claim that the majority of proponents say that 2012 will be doom and gloom. We do tend to divide "proponents" into two camps: The "doomsayers" (those that say some catastrophic event will occur) and the "transformationalists" (those that say that some kind of consciousness raising, or new spiritual awareness will occur). There is some crossover between these two groups (e.g., that there will be a catastrophic event, but the survivors will be transformed into a new spiritual awareness).
Of these two groups, the 'doomsayers' are the ones that are the most vocal, and they are the ones who are causing fear and depression in various vulnerable groups, such as teens and children. Therefore it is the claims of the 'doomsayers' that are most frequently debunked on this site. However, many of the claims are shared by both camps.
As far as the numbers in each camp, I seriously have no idea. However, the camp that has penetrated into the public consciousness is not the "transformationalists", but rather the "doomsayers".

Your comment implies that this site is the work of one or two people and says that we created anonymous people to support the idea that the site is the work of many people. This site is the work of at least a dozen people in various walks of life. There is a list of site members here and the principal authors are listed here.
As far as the research goes, I do a lot of the reading myself, and frequently collaborate with the other authors in order to cross-check the facts, and make the presentation of the facts easily understood. I have done a great deal of research into various "proponents", as have the other principal authors. However, there is so much out there that is either complete nonsense, or just plain wrong, that we frequently find ourselves in a reactionary mode: being presented with a question, researching that specific question, and then addressing it. Perhaps you would care to share a "proponent" whose claims you think we have not addressed?
I have personally for the last three years and just so you know anyone else that has done more than 5 minutes of research on these people will see right through your website.
So, five minutes of research on some unspecified people will enable someone to 'see right through' this website? Which people? Who have you researched personally for the last three years? What are their claims?
I read just as many 2012 hoax websites and interviews as I do 2012 Transformation websites and interviews and believe me I can tell when someone has "observational Selection"..such as this site.
Yes, there is a bit of 'observational selection' going on. We only address the issues that we see, or that are brought to our attention. We don't have the time or resources to conduct a scientific and randomized sample of the beliefs of various people. I don't think you do either.
Who do you think we are not addressing? Please enlighten us.
