Hello, this is my story that I experienced how far this lie can go.
My eight year old cousin is a good kid, he is playful and plays sports. Well, when I watch him I usually just show him videos on YouTube or we play a video game. About a month and a half ago, we were on YouTube and I saw a video labeled "2012! We are being warned!!!!" (luckily the video is gone now), I clicked it since he wasn't in the room, or so I thought. I watched it and it was an IHC commercial someone recorded or downloaded. My cousin is one of those kids that will believe whatever sounds convincing. Well, I watched the video and he was next to my bed when it ended and he looked really nervous and I scrolled down to the comments, which was a bad idea, but I did it so that way he wouldn't have to look at it. Well, one of the comments said was, "Well, its over. I guess buying a ticket will at least delay the inevitable." so then he just walked out of the room to our grandmother. I'm not sure what happend then, but he seemed ok. For a week or two his performance in his baseball was slowly going down. They said he usually just stood there with a blank expression on his face or wouldn't run as fast as he usually would.
Then one afternoon, his mother visited us and said that the night before he broke down crying about wanting to buy a ticket to "escape." He never explained what to "escape" but I was sure I knew what he meant. Then the week after he kept saying he never wanted to go to his baseball games or go on YouTube again. Every time I asked what was wrong he would tell me that he "just didn't feel like it" and that concerned me. It got far worse after a trip to Blockbuster when his dad rented the movie 2012. He actually did manage to watch the whole thing and I was surprised he did. But then the next day he came up and asked me, "You don't think anything bad will happen in 2012 do you?" and I gave him an odd look and said, "No. Why would you think that?" and then he started to cry and said, "Your only saying that!" and cried to my grandmother and got me in trouble with his parents. The next day they came to me asking why I am trying to scare him with 2012 and doomsday stories. I said that I would never do that, because I wouldn't.
After that, they wouldn't let me get on YouTube around him. But the next time I did, I told my friend (the administrators know him as Cade) about it and he said, "Ooooh hes scared of that too? I found a site that debunks the whole thing." He sent me the link and then I found this site. I showed my cousin, but I had to explain it in a way he would understand since he knows very little about science. After that, he was encouraged to play baseball again and do other things. His mother even told us that he actually enjoyed watching the movie a second time. So I must thank you all for having the common sense and making such a great site.
Thank you.
Everything is proceeding as I have forseen. Wait… when did that happen?
