I've seen so much stuff all over the internet. I've read through the pages on this site. However, I'm still worried that something is going to happen. I'm not really worried about the Nibiru thing. I think I'm more concerned with the 2012 movie aspect..I know it's a movie..but, natural disaters all occurring at once. I can't get the thought out of my head that every day that passes, takes us one day closer to 12.21.2012, one step closer to the end of the world and the end of humanity. Please don't think I'm crazy. I'm just worried sick about this crap. I hadn't even heard of the 2012 doomsday until I was flipping through channels about a month ago and saw the special on the History Channel. The guy on there, I can't remember his name, says he found some island and some monument or something….I'm terrified. please help me.

Hi Lynn,
The scenario of the 2012 movie was based on an old discredited idea (crustal displacement). It was disproven and replaced by plate tectonics as the mechanism by which the parts of the Earth's crust move. They don't raise up and flip around like the movie. Movies are fiction and this one was based on a screwy 2003 doomsday claim, but they wouldn't have sold many tickets if they had called it 2003. The Hysteria Channel no longer shows history. They had a change of management and decidded to show sensationalistic BS to attract more viewers. There was no monument on that island, just some ragged rock. On our David J. West page, he reviews that program. They hyped it all up and it was basically more of their crap. Don't be terrified because the Hysteria Channel says there is an island that might have a monument on it. They just use spooky music and say things like, "Could there be….." or "If such and so did…" Do you see the difference? They are using weasel words instead of saying anything definite. That keeps them from getting into trouble when it turns out to be a load of rubbish.

The movie 2012 was a joke, terrible, terrible physics and even more terrible displays of so-called "reality".

If the plates (we'll just call it "ground" to save confusion) were to lift and then flip as seen in the movie, the plates would actually begin to crumble if they began to lift to the point of flipping, granted, most mountain ranges are formed by two plates pushing under the other, but while the other is pushing underneath the other, it's also holding the top plate in place as it rises, forcing it to stay intact.

When it came to "realism" in the movie, I just laughed. The suspension of a Limo (of all things) can not withstand that much punishment, the plates can not rise by themselves to the point of flipping without falling apart, the weight of the plates alone will cause them to crumble. Earthquakes are a fact of life and common-place, so I wouldn't consider an earthquake to be a sign of anything (like in the movie). To the best of my knowledge, the "super-charged particle" theory that the movie "scientists" had for the massive solar flare isn't possible. (Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong at any point)

Really, the only thing that the movie was good for is just to see crap get blown up and torn apart.

Who was the guy on the History Channel show? Did he really find anything? Also, is he a scientist? I didn't catch the very beginning of the show, and to be honest, I'm been afraid to try to watch it again….Was there any type of disclaimer stating that the show was based on theories or are they trying to pass it off as something is really going to happen? Are they saying that the maya really did predict the end?

Also, regardless of how the History Channel folks intended their show to come across, none of it is true. I will say that there are no scientific theories that even remotely agree with 2012 doomsayers. On a related note, please understand that a scientific theory, unlike a "theory" in the more casual sense, is not a mere guess or conjecture. It is a well-established explanation for a set of observed phenomena.

I think Alene's point is that the whole point of the HC production is to stir people up with sensationalist nonsense, but they use careful wording to cover their own behinds when it all turns out to be garbage. They might want you to think the Mayans predicted "the end," but they don't actually say so because it's completely false.

Hi Lynn;

It is difficult to say, because the History Channel loves the ratings that it gets from "2012" related programming so much that it has produced at least seven "2012" themed shows.

But of course, they're not promoting it or anything¹

But to answer your question… the entire show was a build-up to showing a rock formation that someone thought looked like it might have been artificial, and maybe looked a bit like it was something Mayan. Perhaps. If you held your head sideways and squinted.
