This was posted to a question asked if the increase in eartquakes was leading up to 2012 cataclysm.

No these disaster do not point to the end of the world in 2012.
If you are genuinely afraid of the end of the world my best suggestion is to find a faithful Bible Study like the ones noted below.
Yes the end is right around the corner. Beginning on May 21 2011 God will bring his judgment and the final end of the world will be October 21 2011.
What protection do you have outside of God's love?
Who can harm you if God is protecting you?

Yes, we've been seeing his answers on Y!A. His prediction is just as phony as the 2012 ones. He usually claims that the Bible says the end will start on May 21, 2011 and end in October of 2011. Actually, the Bible says nothing of the sort. It clearly says that no one will know when the end is to be.

Before you run off and listen to Harold Camping, I suggest you take a look at A Brief History of the Apocalypse and count the number times that various Christian groups have said that "The Rapture" would occur.

Camping is just one of a long, long line of people who have been wrong about that. He first said it would occur in 1994 too.

"faithful Bible study" is an interesting phrase, since Camping himself says that the "prophecy" is not in the Bible, but has been "revealed to true believers".

I managed to dig up some information on Camping's 'calculation' to arrive at a date of 21st May 2011. Any connection with the Bible is vague, at best. Camping claims that the number 5 equals 'atonement' 10 is 'completeness' and 17 means 'heaven.' Multiply these numbers and you get 850. Take the square of that and the result is 722,500. Then Camping took the date of the Crucifixion as 1st April 33 AD (some others claim the date was 29 AD, but never mind). Add 722,500 days to this date and you arrive at 21st May 2011. Actually, you get 20th May, but that's a Friday and presumably Camping thought it more convenient to have Judgement Day on a weekend.
In other words, it's total numerological nonsense.
