I'm really scared of all this 2012 things. Everytime i convince myself that nothing is wrong, something else comes up. :( Just earlier today I saw the news on the gigantic sinkhole in central america. That hole was very strange looking… And what's with the claims saying governments around the world are building bunkers??? Do they really know something that they don't want us to know?
All the 2012 things are freaking me out!
Kevin, I don't see what is especially frightening with those sinkholes. Ofcourse it's terrible that people have acctually died because of it, but it is not a supernatural phenomena that made those sinkholes appear. And it isn't even the first one to appear in Guatemala, nor the biggest. Look at this, and you will see that this isn't something to worry about: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinkhole.
As for the governments building bunkers, do you have any official source of that (not woo sites that sits on the ultimate truth)? Even if the governments (by the way, which gov.?) are building bunkers, what link to 2012 would that have? I mean, to them there seem to be more pressing matters than 2012. Nuclear/biological/chemical attacks for example.

That's because you're looking for things to be afraid of, which is neither healthy nor productive.

Sinkholes are everywhere and have nothing to do with 2012.
To answer the question you asked in that other thread — no, sinkholes don't have anything to do with earthquakes. I imagine one might be made worse by an earthquake, but they normally form through the chemical breakdown of rocky ground, often limestone. Human activity on land, like road-building, can be a cause. Yeah, they can suck, especially if they form under a busy street or a housing project.
And what's with the claims saying governments around the world are building bunkers???
Secret government facilities are probably in the top five on any given conspiracy theorist's list of perceived evils. Don't you find it the least bit strange that time travelers, prophets, alien emissaries and top secret government whistle-blowers almost invariably show up on woo-woo websites to talk about this crap? Such sources have been making claims about bunkers, secret labs and science fiction-style military bases for decades, but for some reason they all seem to be afraid of the Associated Press. Of course, <sarcasm> I'm sure the AP is part of the conspiracy, and the claimants fear for their lives. </sarcasm>
Do they really know something that they don't want us to know?
Stop reading woo-woo websites. Really, I'm serious. Just stop. You aren't doing yourself any favors. If you want information on something, find a pertinent scientific source. Or at least ask here, which you're doing, and that is a good thing. Above Top Secret, David Icke, Alex Jones, Coast-to-Coast and all those guys are great if you want to scare yourself and load up on hysterical b.s., but they aren't so great if you're interested in reality. I don't actually know whether you're getting your news from woo sources, but it certainly seems like it.
In any case, even if you just came up with this stuff on your own, there is also absolutely no reason to be jumping to these wild conclusions every time you learn about something. I mean, I simply cannot fathom how you leaped from a sinkhole in Central America to secret government bunkers and conspiracies.
Sorry if this has seemed a bit harsh, but I really think you need to sit back, breathe, and chill out a bit. Sinkholes are found just about everywhere on earth, and conspiracy theories about secret government bases and bunkers have been circulating for decades.
Astrogeek compiled this nice list of links that you might want to have a look at.
By the way Kevin,
If you watch the news, you should actually find yourself not thinking much about 2012. Awhile back, I watched a bit about how the president attended the conference to support Chicago to hold the 2016 olympics. They also show him talking quite a bit about the future. A few days ago they interviewed someone from the marines saying that a new piece of equipment will be the cornerstone of military operations for decades to come. They show politicians readying their campaign for the 2012 elections (which would be pointless if they thought the world was ending).
Maybe you should start watching for these type of things, every government conspiracy theory will debunk itself.
Thank you guys! I really should just sit back and relax and forget about all this 2012 nonsense!
Hi again Kevin,
I underestimated the size of the sinkhole at the salt plant. It was beneath the railroad line behind the plant. We came in to work in the morning and a rail car was tilted over the edge of it. There is a writeup and a good photo of it here. They say it is 300 feet across:

They also show another one in Kansas that was caused by an oil well.
Omg why are you trying to scare me.. :( hehehe
