I went to Geryl's page recently and found that a young boy (assuming pre-teen) was telling Patrick that he lived in Australia and was wondering where in Australia he would be safe from the events of 2012. Patrick responded with "Nowhere, all of Australia will be destroyed along with it's population" and then went on to say how he is going to be in the mountains. How could someone sit there and say that to a child if he really didn't believe what he was saying? Is this guy sane?
I have a few questions regarding his claims. Is it even possible for anyone to know about CME's or Solar Flares is you don't have any telescopes? How would the Mayan's know about the Sun's 11 year cycle? Also, weren't the Mayan's more into astronomy rather than geology or physics? Maybe some basic understanding of the two is necessary, but there is no way they could know about the magnetic field or about the core of the Earth…right?
I spoke with a Geologist via email the other day. I asked him some basic questions about the magnetic field and they were primarily…"we don't know." What I got from it was that they don't know if it reverses in a short amount of time. They don't know whether it was cause problems here on Earth like Earthquakes or Volcano activity. They don't know if the past reversals were from an external force.
Your page on Geryl says that he refers people to his books. I was actually curious as to what his books say about how he actually can predict this CME ahead of time. And how he can predict what places are safe and what places aren't. What does he claim that he saw in the Dresden Codex that other's didn't, and how it means this specific event? Have scientists revealed that there is surely nothing under the floor of the Hall of Records? Seems like it would be fairly easy to just do some digging to see if he is right.
Let me assure you that I do NOT believe in this. But it is just so frustrating to hear someone tell a child they are going to die in a couple of years if this is all not true. I am really just trying to expose the impossibility of it to those who are not trained in astronomy. Your page on him is great, but somewhat confusing to non-astronomers. Where exactly is he getting this theory, and why is he so confident about it when all the PhD's are so confident against it? How does he justify himself?
