I thought this page was going to be a helpful one.
Considering that it repeats many of the moronic claims refuted on this website, that's doubtful.
But it just clarified that ancient texts were trying to warn us of something to come…
How exactly do ancient texts "warn of something to come?" What did they know that we don't?
and uses references from credible people.
Who?
They cite John Major Jenkins, for godsake. The article also mentions Alexey Dmitriev and claims that he is an astrophysicist, when he is not.
It may be a little out of date with the solar storm stuff, but regardless…it worried me.
Why? There will always been some "threat" from the natural world that anyone determined enough can proclaim imminent doom over, whether it be earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis or climate change. When you go looking for this crap, you'll probably find it. That doesn't make it credible.
How many different cultures are doomsayers saying predicted something in 2012?
No culture predicted anything about 2012, save for modern culture — primarily Western world woo-woos — and their doomsaying, all of which is shown to be b.s. on this website.
Is the translation of known 2012 references ancient texts by the Maya accurate on that page?
This has been discussed here before.

I'm assuming you don't believe in Mayan gods, so I see no reason for this to concern you. As for whether the translation is accurate, it's hieroglyphics and more of an interpretation rather than a translation. It's also extremely vague. For every moment in human history, there has been some war or catastrophe on the horizon. To make a "prophecy" in that respect is utterly meaningless, like predicting that it will rain in Brazil at some point next year.
Are there any geologists, archeologists, astronomers, biologists that support the idea of a coming mass extinction?
Not that I know of, certainly not by 2012. Of course, it's just a fact that around 98-99% of all species on Earth have gone extinct over time, and periods of mass extinctions have come and gone. That's just how it is. However, these events, while sometimes happening in a "blink" on evolutionary time scales, still take hundreds, thousands or even millions of years to fully come about.
Is it possible that we lost a warning from the ancients in a world of skepticism?
What did they know that we don't?
What actually triggered previous mass extinctions?
Lots of factors. You can read about it here.
This page mentioned that the start date of the long count was shortly after a mass extinction.
If there was a mass extinction ~5,000 years ago, where did today's biological diversity come from? That page also claims that scientists are seeking to explain Noah's flood ("mass extinction"), which is just laughably false. There's no evidence that any such flood ever occurred, so there's no reason to explain it. The most recent extinction is an ongoing event called the Holocene extinction. It's been in progress for some 10,000 to 12,000 years, and the primary cause at present is thought to be human expansion.
Along with several other ancient records.
Like what? The "Hopi prophecy?" It's completely made up.
Could anyone clarify some of these questions?
Hopefully.
