thank you everyone for building and help build this awesome wiki i have been reading the wiki and the comments for about a month now and i feel alot more at ease.. less tense and less gloomy.. now i'm able to go to the beach or go out at night without having this sinking feeling..unless i'm actually sinking..
where has nurse been though? she hasn't posted in a few days.. she always makes me feel better about stuff because she's kinda sarcastic but straight to the point without being childish about things
Vacation, if I recall correctly. Should be back soon.
Hi Tina!
Thanks for posting this! It is comments like this that are about the only reward we get. Well, that and watching the 2012-ers squirm when we ask them pointed questions like "What are the coordinates of Nibiru?".

lol noticed a lot of them 'beat around the bush' when you guys asked them for coordinates
Heh… yes. There are a lot of 'pointed questions' we ask.
You know, I just completed training at work on how to interview a job-seeker. It turns out that the skills for that are very similar to skills for the skeptical inquiry of these claims. You look for the areas that don't mesh well and ask the questions that 'drill down' in those areas. (e.g., Why was there an 18 month gap in your employment? or If the 2012 date was important to the Maya, why didn't they write about it more?)
It is actually a lot harder to interview someone for a job than it is to find the holes in the 2012 stories.

yeah i don't really know much about the maya or their..religious..stuff but i've read alot on this site and it really helps break things down for people like me who really don't have much or any knowledge of the matter :\ and the way you guys add sarcasm and stuff to lighten the mood is just great.. alot of the posts had me understanding and laughing at the same time lol i don't know any other sites that can do that
i know that some people do it for money but why do the other people come up with these 'predictions' when they know that they aren't true? and even though they know it's hurting people they continue with it.. it doesn't make sense
Well, some of them are 'true believers'. They think that these things are really going to happen, and that they are the lone voice calling from the wilderness, trying to warn everybody.
I suspect some of them are kind of 'on the fence' but have an emotional stake in believing it. We've "converted" some of them into skeptics by engaging them in a rational discussion of the facts.
I think that many of the people who believe in the 2012 doomsday are doing so because of a generalized anxiety and uncertainty about the future, the economy, global warming, or what-have-you. It is their way of diverting their attention from those things that they can't control.
Then of course there are the profiteers.

i don't understand why or how someone could believe in something like that..i mean sure we're going to face our demise sooner or later but i don't understand why someone would want to rush it :\ i know there are some of them out there that are spreading rumors just because..people are strange i suppose
