Astrogeek is right. Nostradamus' writings were vague ramblings that can be applied to almost anything, after the fact. I like what one of the people on Y!A says about it. Nostradamus' "predictions" can be compared to shooting an arrow at a blank wall, then painting a bullseye around where it hit.
However, he never mentioned 2012 at all. He also didn't predict the 9/11 attack. When that email was going around right after 9/11, I looked up the actual translations of Nostradamus' quatrains and found that none of the Nostradamus phrases included in that email were connected to one another. They took a few words from one quatrain or century, another phrase from somewhere else, etc. They put these together to make it look as if Nostradamus had predicted it, when in fact, he hadn't.
