… Hi, troll who has just proven they only posted here to troll the board. You clearly ignored the home page and every single article on the left side bar.
Educate yourself.
I won't be as blunt as Moo, but I will say that you clearly did not bother to read the opening page of this website. Apparently you also did not bother to read, or else chose to ignore, many of the responses you received.
We do not concern ourselves with all "issues which will effect society profoundly" in 2012… otherwise we would be discussing the London Olympics and the U.S. presidential elections as well.
This site exists for one purpose: To discuss and debunk the various 'doomsday' scenarios which are claimed will occur in conjunction with the end of the current Baktun cycle of the Mayan calendar on December 21st, 2012. To that end, topical discussion points have been thoughtfully arranged to the left side of your screen.
As you can see, all, or nearly all, of these involve a physical doomsday… worldwide destruction, earthquakes, tsunamis, objects from space crashing to earth, etc. I watched your thread to see if there was something that could be connected to the idea of a "2012 doomsday", and I have to say that if there was, I missed it. However, I don't think I missed it… I think it wasn't there.
The ideas that you raise (Peak Oil and economic collapse) have been around for much longer than I've been on the Internet1. I first started hearing about 'Peak Oil' in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The idea of a catastrophic economic collapse is also not new. My parents lived through the great depression, and the lessons it taught them, and the world, have never truly faded.
Moo is right on the mark in his most recent post in the other thread. You apparently brought '2012' into the picture as an afterthought. Perhaps to force it into being somewhat relevant to this site, or perhaps for other reasons. Regardless, as you were told many times, this is not a forum on global economics, or capitalism. It's about the false rumors of a catastrophic and possibly 'world-ending' event occurring in 2012, and specifically on December 21st (or 23rd) 2012. Your scenarios don't fit the bill in my opinion2.
You are cheerfully invited to take your discussion to a more relevant forum.

Fair enough. If this site only wants to discus events that will fall around 21st to the 23rd of December 2012 I can say that Peak Oil and economic collapse will not be that precise.
These events however will have a great negative impact over this period I have proved conclusively. That you are not happy with that is not my fault.
Do you have to have the last word to try to justify yourself? Seriously, just stop and walk away with what little dignity you may have. You're trying to insult purely due to your own ignorance to the functions of this site.
Stop being a wanker.
Tsk, tsk. Shame on you.
These events however will have a great negative impact over this period I have proved conclusively.
Really? From my point of view, you haven't proven anything, in fact, all that you have done is make claims and provide questionable 'evidence' that, let's face it, is usually of a fascist nature and is against the Western culture.
Wie Sie säen, so sollst du ernten.
These events however will have a great negative impact over this period I have proved conclusively.
No, you haven't, except perhaps in your imagination.
That you are not happy with that is not my fault.
Funny, I was going to tell you the same thing.
Dharma,
You said
I would like a definition of what exactly is meant by 2012 topics.
What good would it do, since you've either ignored or twisted every explanation we've given you thus far, about this site's purposes?
Although I pretty muchly stayed out of the other thread, I have more sympathy for some of your views than you might suspect. However, you quickly discredited yourself there by (a) misbehaving, and (b) mixing those views with typical uninformed 2012-woo claims about "giant electro-magnetic energy fields", etc.
This is one of my personal pet peeves about the 2012 phenomenon: that people who would like to see substantial changes in the world, out of good and perhaps wise motives, gravitate toward 2012 woo because it's anti-establishment, and thereby lose credibility with those whom they must convince in order to realize the changes they desire.
'Nuff said. Now, since you've squandered any possible chance you had of accomplishing anything here, will you, please, just say no more, and accept Astrogeek's invitation:

Someone asked me the other day whether anyone had ever found a dinosaur skeleton which has actually been fossilised. I hope you guys realise what you are up against.
Uh… care to put that into context? That could be a legitimate question, you realize. A legitimate, stupid question… but legitimate.
Yep, context
Inspite of all of the work in the area this person still thought that dinosaur skeletons that had been found were found as bone. It made me realise that the general scientific knowledge in the public arena is no where near as extensive as I had assumed. The point being that … do you realise (as Ihave found out) that the general public know almost nothing about science? Using science to overcome 2012 fears assumes they know the basics, which they don't.
Using science to overcome 2012 fears assumes they know the basics, which they don't.
We make no such assumption, and after a year of two of responding to everyone from honestly ignorant panicked people to slick, lying New Age charlatans, we know what we're up against. All of the above are reasons why some of us like Neil DeGrasse Tyson so much. (Besides the fact that he's a genuinely nice guy.)

Someone should make a 2012 hoax dvd. "the convienient truth" Surely someone would sponsor it and it may get televised. This would reach millions of people, media being what it is. All I ever see on tv is 2012 myths.
Something along that line has been mentioned in other threads here. I have to run off now, but maybe you'd want to look for it? You might also like to read our petition.
