I'm a sixteen year old who frequents the bookstore quite a lot; and it seems like I can't steer clear of seeing something related to 2012. I don't believe in it, but when I hear about the fear that it is spreading it makes me quite furious. Here are these books "2012: the truth" or "the end of civilization" some fail to notice that it is in the new age section.
The new age section is just a neat little way for Barnes & Noble to let you know that you are wiping your butt with your money. Yet there are sections where the science books are, and yet a 2012 title is a million feet away!

This whole 2012 hysteria has opened my eyes to just how selfish people can be. Fear=money. I know several people that are genuinely terrified of this hoax that they are close to tears. The people that buy the piece of crap books are sitting there worrying for their life while the author is living his life away in luxury; all for a dishonest cause. Some [most] of these authors are just clueless about science and don't care to seek actual knowledge. Others, I know for a fact, are fully aware that this is nothing but a stupid story of disastrous proportions.

There have, like you mentioned on the front page, been people (including kids!) offing themselves because this has gotten them so scared. The families of these poor people are torn apart while the 2012 peddlers are making a good buck. And when 2012 doesn't happen, that won't make them stop. They are just waiting for the next claim to jump on, invoking another wave of terror- all for a fat paycheck.

I'm really glad that you have this site. I have seen the stories and it makes me so glad to know that your site is bringing people peace.

Also, I was wondering. Why is it that some people that believe in 2012 are so stubborn about their beliefs. Its almost as if they want the world to end.
I know that the authors do it for money. But what about ordinary people look you and me? what is the reason why they are so persistent on their belief that the world will end?

It's really no different from religious groups wishing for Jesus' return, which will in-turn, spark the end of the Human race.
Belief is a powerful thing, it's kind of like a drug or, a bad habit, if you will.. Once you start believing in something, and you truly believe in whatever it is, then it's extremely difficult, if not impossible to change the way that you perceive your new-found belief that you cling to.

Erin, I get angry about this load of equine feces too.

I get angry when mainstream news outlets, when mentioning 2012, always say it's the year the Mayans predicted the end of the world, when they NEVER said any such thing.

I get angry the longer Patrick Geryl runs his scam to bilk people out of millions of dollars.

I get angry when Jaysen Rand claims a PhD and talks with false authority about "Planet X" when he never earned any sort of degree.

I could go on but I'd be here all night.

I just can't help but wonder what is going on in the 2012 believer's head. A few of them in the many I have encountered are so extreme in everything they believe; whether its about religion, politics, etc.

Erin; what goes on in there head is the great $$$$$$$ sign that all they care for and they are hurting scaring some people that belive this. It is very sad to me this is something that I cant get out of my head day after day. Young kid getting so depress that need help and even adults. You dont know how it tear me appart to hear this story because of this stupid book and website.
