I kind of found this one by accident. All the way back in 2000 I was flipping through the channels and on the history channel I heard them say something about 2012. That was always in the back of my head until 2006 when I seen this thing absolutely blow up. Up until then I did not know it was what it was(sorry for poor English.)

I have my up's and downs but mostly more downs than ups. I have OCD really bad on this and have with this site and other things eased some of my fears and I want to thank you guys, you don't know how much better you made everyday living for me. I can not get over one fear and I'm hoping you can help.

Please nothing negative on why this will happen.

This Novelty theory has me really down and I can not break this one because I can't find any solid evidence proving its wrong. I know a lot has to do with no one really knowing the in's and out's of the theory. Back in August it really got to me and tried to do some research to ease fears and boy was that a setback. I couldn't find anything but I did find all the pro-websites. People were showing things lining up with that graph with dates and what was happening around it. I know everyday life events is probably the cause of this because there's always something happening in the world and you can always line that up with something and making it appear this guy was on to something. Any help on this would be awesome; it would help me out alot. That's my story thanks for listening.

McKenna's Novelty Theory? The whole Timewave Zero thing? Hrm. Okay, I have a way to 'debunk' it for you. You said you can't find any solid evidence proving it's wrong, correct? Okay. Can you find me any solid evidence proving it's been right so far?

Go ahead and do that for me, if you can. I want you to keep in mind what this entire theory/scenario suggests, however. Everything possible to the human mind will happen all at once on that given date. I am >greatly< looking forward to suddenly conjuring up my Catgirl Harem.

Awwwww yeah.

(PS: If you couldn't tell, it's hard to debunk something that hasn't really done anything yet. But, in that same line of thought, it's hard to prove it will amount to anything if it hasn't done anything yet, either.)

How about the fact that Meckenna's Timewave Theory and i stress that word THEORY and the fact that 12/21/12 wasn't even the original date for the Timewave Theory to run out but of course Fiction is always going to win over Fact.

First off thanks for responding. I am hoping for someone to clear my mind as this is in my head negatively.

Here's what gets me. I read that this theory had special areas of novelty in Oct 2001 right after 9-11, Nov 2008 and just now Oct 2010 and then you know what day. I really don't think anything out of the ordinary happened this last month with the exception of that Indonesian Volcano but my argument against that would be there have been other more powerful, destructive volcanoes in the last 400 years and why would for example the 8th biggest volcano be on there but not the top 7. That doesn't make any sense.

As for the 9-11 one this one has me really thinking. I seen the graph for that by accident and 9-11 was at the top of a peak almost but right after it started going down reaching its bottom a month or two after. Since it was so close it is playing in my head.

As you can see I'm a bit nervous on this and I appericate all the help.

Nothing out of the ordinary happened in October. The Indonesian Volcano was not 'out of the ordinary'. Active volcanoes erupting is not exactly a Sign of the Apocalypse. Now, if a dormant or dead volcano erupted, we might be on to something here. And, yes, there have been far worse volcano eruptions in the past. The Indonesian eruption is pointless.

Anyway, as for the supposed claims of the Novelty Theory, I really can't attack this too much, because really… I don't honestly care to put the effort into researching numerology BS. As for pinpointing "around" 9/11… ugh. I really don't know how to explain that one. I really don't know enough about the Timewave Zero, but the basis of Timewave Zero is to pick a Start Date, and the program fumbles with random numerology and pops an end-date out of it's ***. Basically speaking, the Novelty Theory works on cycles of roughly 67.29 years. So, take 9/11, subtract that many years from it, and you got the random "Start Point", with 9/11 being the "End Point".

In all honesty, Numerology is a system where Your Mileage May Vary. And it's not a system I acknowledge as anything less than a waste of time. Digging back, October 2001 really doesn't support September 2001. That's still a month away, and that's just cherry-picking saying "ZOMG it was SO close it predicted 9/11!". That's just getting a 1/12 chance of being right, being slightly off center, but people saying your still right.

November '08? The only significant thing I found involving that month, and I mean of GLOBAL significance, was…

"Blizzard Entertainment launched the latest expansion pack to the highly popular computer game MMORPG World of Warcraft, entitled Wrath of the Lich King."

DAMN, that was major. In all seriousness, if Timewave Zero can predict Blizzard releases, hoooooleeeeeshieeeeeet.

Finally, October 2010… nothing happened. At all. October sucked. Boring month.

Whelp, okay. I really am not convinced of Timewave Zero and the Novelty Theory. I mean, I could throw darts at a board of every month in a year, and eventually due to a 1/12 chance, I'd land on one month where something major happens. Especially if I dick around with Numerology to form patterns, which is all Numerology is: Cherry picking numbers to form a crazy conspiracy.

I really can't debunk it, though. I don't do Numerology, and McKenna's work is just too out there for me to really both trying to comprehend. It's the type of stuff you'd only come up with when you're not in your right sense of mind. AKA: Drug Abuse.

But, I do stress you really shouldn't put any significance on it.

Thanks man. I'm not here to contradict, Im just here to blab out my fears because I hope and want you to be right. In Nov 2008 they are basising things on two arguments, Barack Obama was elected president and the Mumbai terriost attacks. I'm just saying what their saying and whats playing in my head.

You know, the only significance of Obama's election was that he was Black. And… honestly. This isn't the 'dark ages' of racism. Being black is ultimately not that big of a deal. Anyone who thinks that Obama's election was significant due to him being Black is REALLY stretching for something. Badly. And they're borderline racist.

Mumbai Terrorist Attacks? Oi. Whatever. Terrorist attacks happen monthly. Big deal.

Ultimately, Joe, here's how I bite Timewave Zero and the Novelty Theory in the ass. You ready? Here we go.

What about all the significant dates it DOESN'T pick up on? Do you see what I mean about cherry picking? If this thing was so accurate at showing us times of 'great novelty', it really fails at picking up the arguably more substantial events that have transpired compared to, say, Obama's election. Also, arguably? These events are only significant to the U.S., including 9/11 in the extent that, I guess it affected the Middle East? But really, all of these events so far are kind of based around the U.S.

What about events significant to Japan? China? Britain? Australia? Why are they so far just around the U.S. and it's actions within the last few years?

Kind of makes you wonder. Or, as I said before, it's Cherry Picking Numerology BS.

Moo, good post and thank you. Like I said I had a traumatic time in August looking for info on why this wasn't going to happen and I only found the opposite. I put it to you like this, whatever your worst fear is have someone taunt you about it for a few hours straight.

I do like your assessment of why doesn't this thing pick up more world events. As for the Obama, their argument was since it changed the views of people around the world from hating George Bush to welcoming Obama that was it. I know I'm just being frantic.

I do pick up a trend and don't know if it means anything but the first pick was Oct 01, then Nov 08, the Oct 10 and the last was like you said originally slated for Nov before being moved to Dec. Don't know if this is a trend but Oct and Nov are consistent. Maybe that has something to do with the numerology part.

Also, I always thought for 9-11 that maybe he didn't want to put anything in the years 99-00 because it would tie into the whole millennium thing and 01 was the first chance away from that. I can see ways 08 could be wrong because there's elections every 4 yrs and the world pays attention to them every time. For example, people in the middle east usually burn flags and shoot at pictures. As for Mumabi, I looked it up previously and that was their 3rd worst terriost attack in their country. There worst was in 06 and again why isn't that on there if Muambi is?

I have had a look at Novelty Theory and Timewave Zero, so you might like to read my comments in this discussion.
The whole methodology is pulled out of thin air, with never any explanation of why any particular procedure was chosen.
Why the King Wen sequence of the I-Ching?
Why is the sequence manipulated in the way it is?
What is the significance of the particular mathematical series which is introduced?
How is the scale factor for conversion to time chosen?
How is the starting time chosen?

It's a case of fitting the peaks and troughs of a waveform to past events. As always with this sort of procedure, extrapolating it to predict future events fails totally.

That is the problem with forecasting. The past doesn't always predict the future.

I have practised several forms of divination and have studied it extensively. What I come back to is how useless it is in daily life. So far I have not make a killing in the stock market. Also none of the forms I used predicted my brain injury accident. I am familiar with the I-Ching, etc, and what I realised is that if you have an accuracy of 20 percent, you are doing excellently. After all a stopped clock is correct twice a day.

What a lot of diviners do is *fit* the divination to the instance to prove their accuracy.

If you notice red birds, you will count red birds, and decide that red birds have a meaning to you, and you will place value on that meaning. So if you decide that red birds have a good meaning, you will feel happy when you see a red bird. You will look for red birds everywhere. You will dismiss the times when you felt sad and saw a red bird. You will dismiss the times when you felt happy and did not see a red bird. In short, your brain will play tricks so that you will believe that red birds and happiness are connected in some way.

That is what is happening with 2012. People have placed meaning on it, where there was no meaning before.

I want to know what the math is that creates this graph.
All I find is mumbo jumbo and fuzzy claims that it is something fractal and something with IChing. But no hard evidences.

I also want to know a date in the next month that this so called formula is going to predict.
This way we can check how much it predicted and how much it actually missed.

One graph claimed that the big bang happened 23 million years ago. So that is clearly wrong.

I say 100% certainty that it is a hoax.

Thanks for all the help. What would be cool is if someone could go in and pull out 5 dates that this thing missed on in the past. Supposedly, when its at it's high point the event has to be positive, but when its low its a negative event.

If you look at wiki a few years ago it said great periods of novelty occured at the big bang, 10,000 years ago after the ice age, the late 18th century with scientific revolution, the entire 60's(how does the entire 60's get in), around 9-11, Nov 08, Oct 2010 and the ultimate date. I mean it does and does not make sense. On one hand theres stuff happening around these dates but on the other. from the big bang to the end of the ice age is a long time and same could be said about the 18th century. Plus, how much did this miss.

You guys can see the reason why I'm all stressed and stuff. You never know whats fact from fiction, whats manipulated etc. I also thought of it like this, if he's using the entire 60's as a point for example he could of said he got it from his graph but what we don't know is did he have to do 89 variations for it to work since he knew it was already there. The 9-11 one bugs me though. I keep telling myself coincidence etc.

There are tons other important dates missing. dates important for Hindus, Buddhists, Europeans, Afrikaans, Chinese,
BP, Oil spill, the new president of India,…

Also the big bang is 13.7 billion years ago, his chart is wrong.

We have to understand his math. If we cannot repeat his maths then it is not science but quackery.
We need to create a prediction from it, If we cannot predict before it happens then but quackery.
