Welcome to the forum young man glad you found this site and it's been able to help you through some of your fears of the so called End of the World 12/21/12.
Hi David;
My name is Bill. I started this site, and I've done a lot of research on the claims made by the people who say something will happen in 2012.
Let me just say right off the bat, I have given the people who say these things every chance to show me that their claims are right. Nobody has been able to convince me. There is just no evidence for their ideas, and there is a lot of evidence that says that they are wrong.
Before I go any further, let me ask you a couple of questions (not because I'm prying, but because I want to know how to best talk to you about your fears of 2012).
What do you like to do? Are you into sports, or science, or fishing, or skateboarding, or what?
Do you obsess and worry about things?
What kinds of things do you like to read?
Nerd or Jock?
Shy or Bold?
Do you tend to 'go with your gut' a lot?
"Do you ever think about things you do think about?" - Henry Drummond to Matthew Harrison Brady in Inherit the Wind
I am into fishing and my computer. I also love to program.
I do obsess and worry about almost everything :(
Nerd
Shy
Eh depends
My son used to obsess and worry too. He is into video games and Magic Cards. I do hope you have told your parents about your worries.
What I tell my son is that 2012 is in your face because well a bunch of people decided that it should be. Think of the news - why do they report some things and not other things? Because someone decided that people would be interested in volcanoes not the release of Black Ops Video game. Imagine if the news carried the latest in video games instead.
It is the same with 2012 - some people want to sell you stuff, some people want to scare you, some people are just plain dumb and don't know any better, and some people are just crazy.
Imagine 2012 as a video game. Who would be the bosses, what special equipment can you get, what help can you get to beat the bosses… Make it something out of Zelda or Final Fantasy. Would that help you feel better?
Hi David,
We're glad you found our site, and welcome to the forums. It's good that you went to the NASA site as well. The crackpot sites will only scare you and try to sell you useless 2012 junk. None of the claims about 2012 have a shred of truth or scientific basis. The people promoting this nonsense are not scientists. In fact, they know so little about science that they don't even know that their claims are utterly absurd.
A good clue to tell you when you've found a crackpot site is lots of bright colors, flashing messages, and things to sell. You should avoid them. 2012 is a very lucrative business for the doomsayers. When it is past, they will dust off their old predictions, tack on a new date, and be back in business. You shouldn't let them worry you. Doomsday predictions come around every few years and they have a 100% failure rate. This one is just more widely known because of the internet.
I was also very shy when I was your age, but it gets better as you get older and work to overcome it. As for your anxiety about the 2012 nonsense, don't look for it. Now that you know it's fake, concentrate on things you enjoy and on bringing your grades back up. When 2013 rolls around, you don't want to have wasted these years worrying about a nonsensical hoax and falling behind in school.
Hello david, the 2012 scam is designed to make you scared.
They do this because when you scare people, you get control over them and you can sell fake books and fake cures,…
It is a big money scam. And some try to scare you because they love the power they get if they make you scared.
Astronomically, there is nothing out there that could hurt this earth in the next 20 years.
2036 is like 1/250000 chance of astromus or whatever the asteroid called passsing through some timewarp or something?
The object passing by in 2036 is the asteroid Apophis. You can read here about how it's nothing to worry about.
David, maybe you might be interesting in having a telescope or go to a star party one day or another.
The best way to debunk the 2012 is have some astronomy knowledge yourself. The 2012 claims are really really stupidly simple debunked.
If you are in bad luck and live in a place where there is no dark skys like I live, then the second best alternative is looking it to robotic telescopes like http://www.slooh.com/ has. Slooh also has telescopes in Australia and Chilli so so you can actually watch the southern stars too from your home it the skies are OK. You don't have to operate the telescopes, they are following a predefined set of planets and stars and it is pretty live too.
Right here, you said the key words: "I also researched info on this site and it all seems fake but i cant get it out of my head."
I assume you mean you belief the hoax itself is just that, a hoax. And not that the information on this website is fake, heh.
But, anyway, you admit that it is fake. The hoax is a hoax. All this 2012 crap is fake. That, right there, is your first step to recovery. Just take a deep breath, clear your mind, and repeat to yourself over and over again.
It is fake.
It is fake.
It is fake.
If you let it take over your life, how will you feel come 2013? With fallen grades and a destroyed education, YOUR world could very well end. Don't fulfill a fake prophecy, David. You're stronger than that.
Go play some video games. Watch some cartoons (Boomerang, the network, is great for this. No commercials, all cartoons). Embrace your childhood, as those years are fleeting. Wonder. Dream. Be.
And if all else fails, watch some Eyeshield 21 on Crunchyroll. There's some gooooood anime.
Anyway, TL;DR - You know it's all lies. Embrace that and pull through.
Hi David
I tend to worry more than most like you. Even though the facts are, NOTHING is going to happen in 2012, I tend to think "What if?" Everyone gets scared no matter how old they are. I think you should talk to your parents about seeing a therapist. I see one too and I'm 26 years old with 3 boys, one almost your age. It helps me alot and if it could help me, it will help you. There is nothing to be scraed about, your gonna look back at this when your 18 getting ready for college and hey maybe even make a difference for some young boy who is scared. Take care :)
