I'm going to suggest two things:
One to you Lisa, and that is to raise these comments in relevant threads (about the show, about Climate Change, or start a thread on the most fitting board).
And one to everyone else, in that if I wake up tomorrow and find this to be a thread about Nostradamus rather than the forum rules, I'm going to be most disappointed. Well I haven't worked out the mood yet, but don't do it, take it elsewhere, raise talking points on Lisa's behalf if you must, just not in this thread.

Well, "Nostradamus 2012" is lacking in scientific information, so we are even.
First of all the History Channel show is discussing the "ASTROLOGICAL" significance of the "YEAR 2012".
First of all, astrology is BS. We are not discussing what this show portrays, we are discussing the reliability of the History Channel as a whole. And we've shown the History Channel is making baseless claims on their documentaries and while they could portray some scientific information there, they spend the entire show with self-proclaimed scientists.
That's what we discuss here.
Second, the "Galatic Alignment" refers to the sun rising in the constellation Aquarius during the winter solstice of 2012…..once again "Astrological" evidence……not astronomical evidence.
Again, "astrological evidence" doesn't work here. Maybe because "astrology" itself doesn't work at all.
The show does not state or purport to provide evidence of an astronomical alignment!

Secondly if individuals are dumb enough to believe anything that is stated on television as truth without questioning the information and requiring supporting evidence, then the population of the world is actually more ridiculous than I first assumed.
Welcome to Earth. You just described the vast majority of the population.
If the education system in the United States actually promoted truth and independent evaluation of information instead of regurgitation and instant acceptance of what is taught then perhaps individuals would be taught to challenge information, which might actually facilitate open-minded thought analysis……
That's what I think the education system should do, not only in the United States… everywhere.

If I remember correctly, most scientists during the 80's argued that "global warming" did not exitrs and was a hoax perpetrated by the left and lacking in sufficient evidence to support that particular theory………

The global warming is not really a law. Here are some laws.
well I hate to break it to you all the scientists of the world……..but "Global Warming" exists.
But we are not debating whether it's real or not.
And for all the rest of the non-believers, is anyone paying attention to the news lately. Africa is experiencing the worst famine in 60 years due to a devastating drought. How interesting….seems to me that was also covered in the History Channel show. Perhaps the all knowing "scientists" should get out of the lab once in awhile and see what is happening in the world for themselves!
