I'm having a bad day with my anxiety. I can't stop thinking about death. Yes, it's gonna happen. But, I can't quit thinking about it. I'm physically sick from it. Please, no sarcastic comments. I'm too young to be worried about it. I really only think about it a lot at bedtime…when I'm not busy. I'm just terrified that we're still 2 years away from 2012 and in those 2 years scientists are going to find something…UGH!! Why can't i just be normal?? I knew if I came here, yall would help me.
It's Normal to be scared of something but specifcally Justakid what scares you the most and maybe i might be able to help you out.
Mike, everything does. LOL. I guess because there's so much in space we don't know about. Or the crap the History Channel shows. <sigh> Just all of it.
Well i can help you with some of this.
The Mayan Calendar did not predict anything in 2012 that is modern interpertation of the calendar. Even the Mayans say there are no doomsday claims in their calendar and the calendar cycle doesn't even end on Dec 21st 2012 it actually ends on Dec 23rd 2012.
The Bible doesn't say anything about 2012
Nostradomis doesn't actually predict anything for 2012 either once again much like the Maya it's Misinterpertatiton.
Solar Flares the Solar Cycle ends in May of 2013 so there's nothing to worry about there.
Nibiru if it exsisted in order to do anything to us it would have to be visible TODAY and it's not.
Earthquakes happen quite regulary in various places
A lot of this stuff is just made to sell books and make money because apparently fear is the quickest way to the bank in today's economy.
Hi JustAKid;
I hope you haven't been sitting up for the last three hours stressing about this stuff. Sorry I haven't been able to answer earlier, but I haven't been able to coax my blackberry into actually letting me log into the site, and as of yet Wikidot does not have a 'post reply by email' option.
I'm going to turn Mike's question around, and ask you what you like… what do you enjoy?

You know the funny thing is that Mayans still exist and they look at you funny at you when you ask them if it is true that 2012 is real. Then when you leave they have a big laugh at you that you even think it was real.
Some Mayans would probably play the game and pretend that 2012 is try so you can buy them a drink. ;-)
What we are missing is some real Mayan people subscribing to this forum. I know they are out there.
The Maya that I have had contact with are either mad about the whole 2012 thing, or they think it is funny. "Look at all the anglos running around like crazy over an old calendar!"

I thought I read something last week that said the mayan calander was off by like 50 years so the 2012 prediction cannot be right.
Actually no one knows when it will end.
It must be somewhere between 200 years in the past and 300 years in the future.
My best guess is that some guy said, look at 21 12 2012, that would be a cool date to end the Mayan calender on and the decided to give that date as proof. I would have chosen 21 12 2112 that is a way more cooler date but I would have to wait another 100 years to sell my books.
One thing I do know, when you look at the stars and planets, it is completely wrong date to end a calender.
I would at least end it on some day with a 100% full moon or 0% full Moon but on a 66% Moon and all planets unaligned.
Anyone could die at anytime. You can die of old age, accidents and more. The world will not end soon though. If there is no evidence then don't believe those scientists.
I'm going to post something that might not be popular here, but if you are seriously worried (like I was because I am a worried mom who is worried about everything LOL), you might want to check out John Major Jenkins' book The 2012 Story. Please don't flame me, and I will add as loyalty to the 2012 debunkers, don't buy the book but see if your library has it or just read excerpts at the bookstore or on Amazon. Or just check out his website.
Jenkins' astronomy has been challenged by this site. I don't know anything, admittedly, about astronomy. But, as a 2012 proponent, he states very adamantly that the doomsday scenarios are BOGUS. He says he has been left out of 2012 documentaries because he doesn't think the Maya predicted a doomsday. Instead, he asserts that the date was very important for the Mayan's astrological mythology. He seems to know a lot about the Mayans and he clearly has a deep affection for their culture and mythology.
Then he goes on to describe some woo crap about "oneness consciousness" and the triumph over ego, etc… He is one of the leading 2012 proponents and HE DOES NOT BELIEVE IN A DOOMSDAY!!! If even John Major Jenkins doesn't believe in a doomsday, why should you?
From what I've seen and heard of this John individual, he seems to be one of the rare few that you can at least reason with, most of the 2012 proponents are too narrow-minded to maintain reason in a conversation.
Wie Sie säen, so sollst du ernten.
Unfortunately JMJ talks out of both sides of his mouth. Read our John Major Jenkins page, and also this page details some of his more… um… esoteric views.

Sorry, I'm not too familiar with this new-fangled wiki text thingie, so my formatting might be off.
Anyway, I only read that one book. I didn't read Maya Cosmogenesis or any of his other books. But I was actually a little surprised to see he was filed under the 2012 proponents list. It kind of seemed to me like he is a debunker, as in a debunker of doomsday rumors. He's a proponent in the sense that he thinks 12/21/12 (as the largely accepted date of the conclusion of the Mayan Long Count calendar, though there are many critics) does have some significance — mostly TO THE MAYA in terms of their cultural mythology. Well, sure. Why wouldn't it? This is nothing new or extraordinary. Every Dec. 31 our culture throws a big celebration and then Jan 1 is seen as a day of cleansing (think new year's resolutions). Jan. 1 is really just a random day, but in our calendar it is seen as a day of renewal. This isn't a bad thing, it's just a convenient day to SWEAR to lose 20 lbs!
Where he kind of crosses into woo-artist territory is where he says that he believes humanity as a whole will begin some sort of renewal process, away from greed and materialist ego thinking to a broader unity-consciousness. This is where the psychadelics come in and visions and whatnots. There won't be any "event" but merely some kind of mysterious shift in consciousness that he believes generations from now we will see actually started around the 2012 time frame. This clearly isn't science. It's his interpretation of astrology. And anyway, it doesn't bother me. It's actually kind of nice, dontcha think ;)? On your page for him here, he's quoted in answering whether or not it will be the end of the world. He says "short answer yes, long answer no." I think what he was saying was that it will be the end of ONE KIND of world for humanity (one powered by greed and ego) and replaced by a new world of love and tolerance. And, no, the world will not physically end, neither will humankind.
I'm not trying to be an apologist for Jenkins. And I agree that he's making money off all this hype, therefore I don't want to hype him up any further. But, I think his book is useful in debunking doomsday rumors, especially for kids like Justakid who are having trouble making sense of all this and getting swept up in anxiety.
The anxiety is just crazy. Before I saw this stuff on History Channel, I had never heard of it. It just worried me so bad because 2000 was also supposed to be the end, but didn't get as much hype.
You know, I had a wonderful email conversation with a school kid from Australia, who was doing a project on "cultures and civilizations", and had picked 2012 as her topic.
She was rather dismayed when I told her that no ancient culture (not the Chinese, nor the Egyptians, nor even the Maya) had predicted anything would happen in 2012. I guess she thought her project would have to be scrapped, until I told her that she could probe the interesting question of how these rumors get started, and how they become projected onto other cultures and peoples, and especially ancient cultures such as those mentioned above.
That's all that 2012 is… a projection of a "New Age" rip-off of the Mayan calender upon the Maya, the Egyptians, Chinese, Hopi, Hindu, etc., etc.
There is no "there" there.
So, my advice to you, JustAKid, is to unplug from this 2012 stuff. Recognize that it's all a fraud, then go find something you like to do, and go do that instead of worrying about this.

Actually, Y2k got a whole lot of hype. I remember people rushing into grocery stores and buying hundreds of batteries and flash lights. Im being serious, Y2k was supposed to the end of civilization as we know it. At midnight on december31st 1999, I was sitting in a chair, drinking and partying. There was a whole group of people there just waiting for the world to end at midnight. We all started the countdown and the anxiety was unbelievable. Well, once we hit 0, we looked at eachother and said, Well, I guess everyone was wrong. This is exactly what is going to happen on December 21st 2012. People are going to be sitting there, waiting for something to happen. December 22nd 2012, there is going to be a lot of people that wrote books and tried to scare a lot of people, looking like total dummy's. I refuse to be one of those people. Do you want to be one of those people?
Astro, I just read the Energy Vampire page. Huh. Anyway, his most recent book seems to contradict this as well as his website. On his website, he states this:
Guess What? There is ZERO evidence that the ancient Maya predicted the end of the world in 2012. The Maya calendar does not END in 2012. DOOMSDAY-2012 is a fallacious construct, a projection of exploitative and underinformed writers and Western nihilistic fantasy. A huge publicity campaign has begun for Hollywood's 2012 catastrophe movie, to open November 13, 2009. Is this Hollywood appropriation of 2012 mere harmless entertainment? At the very least, this entertainment comes at a price, and that is: the complete and utter misrepresentation of what 2012 meant to the creators of the 2012 calendar. I write about this in my new book, The 2012 Story. My nine books on Maya cosmology and tradition going back to 1989 explore the facts, the evidence, and the reconstruction of a lost paradigm.
You're right, in any case, that he's a nut.
ugh you know the thing is you can explain why things are wrong over and over again but when you are scared and don't know about things like this i find it's harder to come to terms with fear, Justakid……….yes you will have bad days they will come and go, but as i have said to you before, there is nothing going to happen to us in 2012, if you need me let me know ok? i hope you are steady soon :)
Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.

Well, Ive got a feeling theres more going on here than just a fear of 2012. If im wrong about that and all of justakid's anxiety is coming from the thought of 2012, then there is a way to cure this. Justakid, if I were you, id stop watching or listening to 2012 propaganda. If you keep doing that and you are really sensitive to this, then your not going to get better. Earlier I read where someone posted how you can become addicted to 2012 propaganda. Well, I believe this to be true. Ive been watching 2012 stuff all day on The history channel, and even with my level headed reasoning, I had to turn it off. It really started to drive me a little crazy. Have faith that the people on this website know what they are talking about and just turn your back on all 2012 scare tactics. This will help to deprogram you. See, the way branwashing works is, an idea is fed into your head over and over until it becomes real. Even people with the strongest of minds can fall into the grips of brainwashing. Just give it a break and you'll see your anxiety leaving you. Coming here is a good thing, because it will help to deprogram you into the opposite mind set. Before you know it, you'll be on here telling people how ridiculous it is.
