Honestly, if I were to start a topic about the Bible and the whole religious pantheon Christians and off-sects of Christianity pledge themselves to, it would just go something like this…
"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, allow me a moment to question your logic. What makes the Bible, a script, nae, a book written ages ago, any different from, for example, the Lord of the Rings? Both are set in the far past, neither can be proven they happened or did not happen. The only key difference here is that the following of the Lord of the Rings knows it is simply a fantastic tale, why Christians and the like seem to have forgotten that stories are not automatically fiction.
There lies no evidence supporting the more fantastic tales of the bible. You go only by a script that has been rewritten and altered over generations upon generations. You cherish it as the absolute truth, never questioning why it is okay to do so. If I were to suddenly declare Frodo Baggins as my savior for sacrificing everything to rid our world of Sauron, you would call me a fool. I, in turn, would call you a fool for calling Jesus our lord and savior for sacrificing himself to help cleanse us of our 'sins'. The same sins that God itself allows us to commit. If it was not within God's will, and was in Lucifer's own, wouldn't an all-powerful, all-mighty being as God be able to suppress the will of Lucifer with his own? Or does this simply prove that God is not the Almighty?
If we were created in God's image, then that makes not only God, but Jesus and all others of the Holy Bible flawed creatures, with infinite capacity. For such a being, split between a being of compassion and a being of anger, God has not once made itself known to those of the present era. All we have is a script, altered time and time again, that we have no proof all it says is absolute.
Continue to believe what you wish to believe, as fellowship can be a precious thing. Let not the differences between your religions cast those into the lot of Saved or Damned, for in the end you are not the one to Judge others. That is the responsibility of a being beyond your comprehension. Or is it?
As for me? I will continue to scoff at those who dare judge others for their beliefs, for even I myself do not judge those who belief in a Holy being. I question the logic, but nothing further. You have no right to damn those who do not follow YOUR beliefs, as that only shows who the true devils are in this world. For a book wanting to spread fellowship, compassion, and love, it's followers tend to forget this message time and time again.
In the end, all I say is that you should not thank God as much as you should thank your family, for they are the ones who supported you, not God. You may think God is what bestowed you to them, and as such are thankful for your good life, but God is not the one whom put food in your mouth, clothes on your back, and such things. As much as you may thank him at every meal, this only robs from the true saviors; the working class.
And unlike God, I can go out and see them doing this day after day."
Something like that!
