The single most common astronomical misconception I come across when talking to 2012 believers, is their inability to distinguish between "line of sight" effects and actual physical movements. To many, "the Sun moving into the constellation of Virgo" means that the Sun actually travels into that region of space. Yes, I know this seems utterly ridiculous to anyone with a basic understanding of astronomy, but I am continually amazed at the number of people who simply do not grasp this! Similarly, when they hear of the Sun "moving through the Ecliptic" or "moving onto the Dark Rift" they assume that this means an actual physical movement of the Sun (or the entire Solar System) into those regions, when it is in fact just a visual alignment caused by the Earth's movement. Many also confuse the "Precession of the Equinoxes" with a physical movement within the Galaxy of the Earth/Sun/Solar System, or the Sun physically "crossing the galactic plane".
So, I would like to suggest a page explaining "Line-Of-Sight". Maybe with some analogies to help the reader get a feel for the geometry of astronomical movements?
