Here are some more snippets from the Paltalk 2012 chat rooms. I think they are worth posting if only as a reminder of the depth of public ignorance of astronomy and science. Some are also quite amusing.
I've added a few comments here and there [in square brackets]. The rest is unedited text from the 2012 chat rooms.

Earthplay: ok this 2012 date is important from many aspects
a rare aliegnment to the galactic plane, with our sun and the earths magnetic north pole, which at this time will only be 7 degrees from a perfect aliegnment this happens only one, togather every 26000 yrs
at this time we will not only have an aliegenment, but cross hemispheres of the milky way galaxy
this is called the completion of the precession of the equinox, and a galactic crossing
[ Above, "Earthplay" has confused the Precession of the Equinoxes with crossing the galactic plane, a misconception I believe he got from watching Ivan Stein's videos (which we have now thoroughly debunked, see the link on the left) ]
Tubular bridge: for the sun to move in the zodiac from being "in aries" to "in sagittarius" , what is the cause? is it - 1. the earths spin? 2. the earths orbit around the sun? or 3. the suns orbit around the galaxy? which one?

[The correct answer is of course 2. The Sun's APPARENT movement along the ecliptic through the year, and its APPARENT movement through the zodiac constellations, is caused by the EARTH'S orbit around the Sun.]

[ Centripetal force at the equator is about 0.03 m/s^2, while acceleration due to gravity is about 10 m/s^2, so if the Earth did not spin, you would weigh a tiny 0.3% more. ]

AndyMcTar: the angle of the solar system is irrelevant. solar systems can form at ANY angle to the galactic plane. the solar systems we have been discovering have been at many different angles

AndyMcTar: its not hampster. if that was the case, the sun would orbit around that galaxys plane, but we know it orbits the milky ways plane
