My story is similar to most of those worried about 2012. I don't remeber how it started bugging me really. I've never been one to believe history, netgo, or the discovery channel. I find them fake and they twist words a lot. I remember first hearing about 2012 when the movie was going to be released naturally I knew none of it could happen I myself love science. I never thought much about 2012 and the rumors until one day while hanging out with my boyfriend and his soccer team before a game they started talking about 2012 and how there was signs everywhere. Naturally I told these kids they were nuts but they ripped me apart (they all are"bible thumpers" shall I say and I am Agnostic). So it began I was reasearching 2012 constantly and trying to find ways to show people why they can't believe hollywood. Unfortunatley I stumbled across too many doomsayer websites and began to fall for the rumor. I was sick for days and I still can't fully put my mind at ease. I was so bad I went around asking almost everyone at school if they believed it (No one did but one). Anyhow I drive my friends crazy with it I'm almost always talking about it ,and even though I know it won't happen my anxiety (I've struggled with it all my life) keeps acting up when I hear 2012. Of course I got onto actual scientifcally websites such as nasa.gov and such I discovered that I was just worrying over nothing. My dad who has a degree in geology told me each generation has there "Doomsday" and his was y2k. When he told me this i calmed down some ,but still I couldn't put my mind at ease. Then I found this website and I couldn't tell you how much it has helped me understand where this whole thing came from. Even the kids that were ripping me apart say it's just a hoax. You guys are doing a great job I find this site to be very logical, and you don't have any ads! I found that any site that says 2012 is doomsday sells you things I've even seen one that sells tea shirts! It's just sick what people will do for a couple bucks. Now I find that with 2012 coming closer more and more people are starting to see it's just a hoax. Only people I know are conspiracy theroist who believe that dumb show by Jessie Ventura (My science teacher laughs at this show). Anyway my point here is keep up the great work you guys helped me get my life back. There are times I slip back into a depression when I think about 2012 ,but when I step back I realize that if it was really true you guys wouldn't exist and Nasa would be trying to prevent it. I never been one to belive in prophecies it's easy to put prophecies with events after they happen. Anyways thank you guys for all your work and i'll be checking back often too see what eles you guys debunk. (I'm only 15 by the way)
Hi Lakin,
Thanks so much for sharing your story with us. I'm very glad we have been able to help you see that the 2012 claims are nonsense. Come back anytime, and pass it on if you run across other who are being taken in by the big hoax.
The 2012 hoaxers use fear because people are programmed to automatically listen to the one not in fear when they are scared, in this case the 2012 hoaxers that wants to control you through your fear and buy stuff from them.
Once you are in the fear state your critical thinking gets short circuited and your reality check does not kicks in any-more.
Your actually in some kind of hypnotic state, a direct way into your brain to brainwash you.
Not all 2012 hoaxers are bad, some do it to have a laugh at you, others are misguided into believing that it is true. These people don't realize that they do so much harm.
I totally agree a lot of people fall for this everyday (myself included). I realize that your not gonna be able to help everyone. People do fall for it ,but a lot of adults haven't even heard of it where i'm at my mom just thought the movie was just for fun.
You would think people know bettter then to use youtube for homework ,and research. I never qutie got why people beileve everything on the internet. Im sure if I posted a video showing someone dressed up in a unicorn outfit and claimed it was a real unicorn people would believe me. I did at one point fall for this 2012 hoax and i'm not gonna lie the thought still scares me a little, but I'm finding out that even those who claim 2012 is doomsday are already moving on to another year. I think sites like yours are now starting to make people realize the truth. You still get those sites like worldwidewakeup.com that is claiming your site is cherry picking (read why they deleted you) ,but you guys have debunked or explained about 90% of the things people claim. I don't think you disagree with the fact that the world could end in 2012 I mean War and famine could wipe us all out. However you can never predict this and it'd have to be a ww3 to wipe us all out. Thanks again for this site it's helping me a lot in recovery.

A link for what was said.
I'd love to go through that article but it'd send me rather off topic, suffice it to say you're well aware of how both sides of the argument work and have managed to look at both of those sides and decide for yourself.
On his link, he says this:
I try to do my best to keep things balanced here, give an unbias 2 sides to the story so that you can make up your own minds about what’s really going on hence why I put 2012Hoax.Org up in the first place.
The thing is there is nothing to decide, there is nothing to balance.
The same physics that gives us the means to sent probes to Mars and Jupiter clearly shows that the 2012 claims cannot happen. You don't have to believe this just learn a tiny bit about physics and check out yourself.
Hi, Lakin. I see you've encountered Kyle. I have posted a response to his article over in the Miscellaneous section. Here is the link:
