Hi guys, I just have one question still about 2012. I have no fear whatsoever about niburu, pole shifts, alignments etc. But there is one thing still irritating me about this whole thing. Solar flares. I know u have a page on them and iv read countless posts about them, but they still bother me. My question is simply, is it possible for our sun to throw a flare that could wipe us out? I know geryl talks rubbish but it's not the tsunamis and earthquakes I worry about, it's the flare itself. Sorry if this is an old question but I feel if I got this out of my head I could really help other people here deal with they're fears. Thanks.
No, it is not possible. The Geryl claim is laughlable. The solar flares are normal (most of them happens during Solar Maximuns), aren't so disastrous, and can't wipe us out.
Still, they happen every time when there are sunspots in the sun. Another thing: the atmosphere protect us, so no energy from the sun enter the Earth with maximum force.
Don't worry. They are normal.
Hello, Gary.
Our Sun is very stable, and there is absolutely no evidence suggesting that it is capable of producing a gargantuan flare like that depicted in the moving Knowing or like you read about in the pseudo-scientific ravings of Patrick Geryl. We can look at all types of stars, and those with similar properties and in similar circumstances to our Sun simply do not produce life-threatening phenomena during their main sequences (which is what our Sun is currently in).
What would a killer flare even be like? Would be simply die from the radiation? Would we melt?
Like a fireball or something, that's my worry anyway. Suppose it's a bit silly but it's not like any other scenarios are sensible are they? I really think that is the only scenario that is even possible, and even that sounds highly unlikely. If the killer flares impossible then I truly believe there's nothing else to worry about. I mean, nibiru???? An invisible planet?? Insane. Planet allignements mean nothing and pole shifts take thousands of years, so if the suns all good I'm happy and confident that 2012 is complete bulls@@t!!!
Like a fireball or something,
The problem is that the fireball is so low in density probably lower than the fog you walk through.
It is also in vacuum, so it spreads out very thinly after a travel of 150.000.000 km. Big volume but low density.
The mass of the complete solar flare is we are talking about a total mass of a thousand times a billion times less than Earth Mass.
It is a mass that is not concentrated in a single object and is not nailed somewhere into space to where it can pull on Earth. It is free floating weightless and earth will pull it towards it, not the way around.
If you look at the sheer area of the sphere at 1 AU distance, it is so huge that any solar flare would probably miss Earth because it is ejected in a 360x180 degree.
Basically earth might get hit by a solar flare, but it is not going to be the one from 2012!
And when it gets hit is as harmless as it can be, just a little annoyance for your radio reception.
Thanks guys, I have done my research, believe me, but the whole solar flare thing sounded the most plausible out of all the other claims that are, frankly, absurd. Thanks for taking the time to answer anyway, it's very much appreciated.
Numbers have never been one of my strengths, but I suppose if it's never happenened in 4 billion years of earth existence then expecting it to happen in less than 2 years is completely absurd! Also on David morrisons site, he says such a thing is impossible, so I'm more than happy to say I no longer fear any of this 2012 stuff.
In truth, we have the same chance of an apocalypse in 2012 than in any other year. Predict it for 2012 is absurd, but nothing is impossible, just very, very, very unlikely. But isn't reason for concern, Gary.
Just live every day how it being your last one.
But the human race is new. It will take several years for the next mass extinction. How much? Well, some several millions of years.
Peace.
