2060?

Why did newton say this was when the world could be destroyed? Was it just a prediciton or is there an actual threat? I'm just curious on this.

Well, he said that a global destruction until 2060 is very unlikely.
Here is what he said:

So then the time times & half a time are 42 months or 1260 days or three years & an half, recconing twelve months to a yeare & 30 days to a month as was done in the Calendar of the primitive year. And the days of short lived Beasts being put for the years of lived [sic] kingdoms, the period of 1260 days, if dated from the complete conquest of the three kings A.C. 800, will end A.C. 2060. It may end later, but I see no reason for its ending sooner. This I mention not to assert when the time of the end shall be, but to put a stop to the rash conjectures of fancifull men who are frequently predicting the time of the end, & by doing so bring the sacred prophesies into discredit as often as their predictions fail. Christ comes as a thief in the night, & it is not for us to know the times & seasons wch God hath put into his own breast.

Sssooo basically it was just a prediciton saying that really it's unrealistic to think anything catastrophic will happen to us until then, but it could also be later then then. Okay so what I'm getting is that Newton prediciting nothing happing until at least 2060 am I right?

Yes. You are right. In fact, it was a guess. Maybe the end happens in 2300 or 3000. Or maybe tomorrow. But the humanity is very adaptable to extreme conditions. Our ancestry from stone age already survived many, many disasters. They survived an ice age too.

Yeah you got a point I wasn't really worried I mean Newton if he was alive today may think differently on it. I'll be 65 so i'll be old anyway so i don't really care to much. Only thing I though is if I have kids ,but knowing that I'm not worried now thanks =]
