I just want to ask opinions from people on this. Today or yesterday youtube was overrun by pornographic videos being uploaded with titles from kids TV programs. People are complaining that they don't want there kids to see it and it should be moderated and the internet should be more heavily moderated. My point is this. Why do they all complain about pornographic material being shown when there are just as many websites trying to prove the end of the world. These things could put kids in states of depression and sadness. Why not stop and moderate these sites and videos which does more harm than pornographic videos in my opinion. What are other peoples opinions ?? :)

YouTube gets at least 24 hours of material uploaded to its servers every minute, and that's an old stat, it could be closer to 30 hours worth by now. It is simply impossible for them to screen content before publishing it, and is far, far easier to take the few blows and apply the rules after, than enforce them beforehand.

The Internet should be more heavily moderated by parents before letting their kids view it, in that example you give. If you haven't put in the work to protect your kids from viewing adult content, why should the rest of the Internet do it for you?

As to why people complain about pornography and not eschatology, those same people might be in support of the end times in the first place. People can have strange morals sometimes, where something benign is totally unacceptable, but something horrendous is simply 'God's will' or whatever.

Ultimately the Internet is, in an ideal world, free and open for people to do what they want with it. Might not like some people do with it, they might break a few laws and have a legitimate reason to not be on the Internet, you might even go so far as to campaign against what some people do with it, but there simply cannot be an Internet police to do it for you.

And if there ever is, the Internet as we know it is toast. I'd rather deal with some doomsayers and unwanted porn on YouTube, over dealing with more government on top of too much already.

The YouTube, like other websites, is free. And this is why the YouTube is full of stuped videos.This freedom is good, but it can also be bad. This is why the common sense have to be used everytime.
Why, instead of going to YouTube, some people don't search for reliable sites?
So, I agree with you: the YouTube is full of nonsense videos, but the right thing to do isn't moderate, but restrict it a little more.
