So hey i was wondering is the weather abnormal recently?? like i mean the floods in australia are nearly up to the skyscrapers and its really worrying because there has never been anything like this before especially in a warm climate like australia. so i was wondering could the weather be abnormal or is it??
People are gonna say there is nothing wrong with the weather :) when there most certainly is, some blame global warming, I dunno I thought last year was mental weather wise it has nothing on this year, Rory have you heard about the cold snap in Delhi? thats mad too. my heart goes out to those people in Australia :( I am so pleased they are sticking together, do you know if the flood waters have peaked yet?

Rory, as far as I know, the floods in January are normal in Australia, because is one of the most wet months of the year, since they are in the South Hemisphere. Those floods can be due to the La Niña phenomenon too.

Geomagnetic reversals are dated by measuring the magnetisation of rocks. The direction of magnetisation matches the direction of the earth's magnetic field at the time the rocks cooled from lava. If we know the age of the rocks, we can determine the direction of the Earth's magnetic field at the time.
Carbon dating is used to determine the age of organic material and is irrelevant here (in common with most of poleshaft's postings).

Yes, there is a story about those numbers, but it doesn't matter. What matter is that the global warming is a fact. The planet is warming. This always happened, but with the human activities this phenomenon is faster.

i hope we dont get flooding here in Ireland.Its just since the movie 2012 was brought out it seems every news station around the world go a bit freaky when theres floods and stuff and its a bit bad when they come on and say 50,000 people evacuated 20 dead and more to come with these big headlines.

No "Global Disaster" movie is really plausible. "The Day After Tomorrow" was an attempt to make something a bit more realistic than "Armageddon", which was critically bashed for being so unlikely that it was hilarious.
In fact, "The Day After Tomorrow" took a ton of hits, and got little praise, by actual scientists. Largely, it was appreciated for the Global Warming awareness, but the science behind it is illogical and badly flawed.
To this date? No "Global Disaster" movie is plausible. End of story.
The movie is full of madness and mistakes, but he has no guilt to be supported. It was made to be just another science fiction movie, but it won too much attention by the scientific community.
But during this 2012-fear, the global warming lost attention.

Cuneiform is not an older Sumerian language, or a language that pre-dates the Sumerians. It is the Sumerian written language, and dates to the same time of the ancient Sumerian civilization, about 3,000 BC.
The Tartaria tablets are not cuneiform. They bear some incised symbols, which are (potentially) a very early written language. Direct dating of the tablets is impossible, since the discoverer fired the clay tablets in order to preserve them. They may be as old as 5500 BC, or as young as 2700 BC.
In summary: Cuneiform is the Sumerian written language, created by impressing wedge-shaped marks into clay. It dates to the same time frame as the Sumerian civilization. The Tartaria tablets are not written in cuneiform, and are probably not as old as you have claimed.
