Was wondering why this is on CNN as news.

Is there something special about it?
I was spelunking through the USGS website at past years quakes and what not and reading their take on whether or not they are increasing and I mean.. I don't see anything out of the ordinary. I don't know, just wondering what ya'lls opinions are.

Now, having said that, a 6-pointer is not your basic rock-and-roll. Personally, being a native Californian, anything under 5 is 'puny', and I'll get mad if you interrupt my evening TV to talk about it. But a 6, well, that's 10x as big as a 5. A 6 might make me check on the kids.

Maybe that's why its in the news.

Because it was a bit strong earthquake.

But I am thinking about the population. Is there anyone dead?

They said that nobody was hurt. Evidently it wasn't a populated area or something.

Think the main thing with Earthquakes at the minute is they are getting alot a press it was the same last year, I have to admit that the 3 we have had in the UK in the past few months has freaked me out completely, I deal with fear someimes badly but I do deal with it :) I am sure there is nothing big going on, just like everything else it all gets blown out of proportion :(

I think CNN posts them often because they need something new to post. A strong assumption yes, but the media is the media.

So true Emperor..shame half the stuff the media post about 2012, earthquakes, the LHC, space, aliens you name it, is completely wrong and more often than not written in the worst possible way using big words and scaring people who are not clued up on things, hence why I always encourage research but you have to know wha you want to find out or you will just keep on going to places where you will be even more freaked out :/
