It's not the stories in particular, it's more the comments that are filled with conspiracy. As far as the cold/snow goes, I was reading that the same kind of cold weather happened back in the 70's. So that begs the question, maybe it is a type of cycle in weather since it has happened before?

The weather has been crazy for the past year, it's just got a little worse this year :) there are people that think it's all in my head LOL it's not I mean a friend of mine lives in Egypt and they had Hailstones a few weeks ago :| yeah Hailstones can you believe it? and what about the middle east? their cold snap? they ain't used to them low temps :/ I dunno wha is going on, maybe it's just Mother Nature who knows one thing is for sure there is nothing at all we can do about it :)

I just wanna say i live in egypt and itts not as cold as you think it is. Its still 19-20 degrees. And most of the cold weather is coming from sandstorms and from the wind. I saw the hailstorm from my balcony. it lasted about 20 secs and after an hour its was almost completley sunny. Lots of egyptians say this is normal so its not really abnormal in egypt :)

What I find interesting is that governments are falling in the Middle East and North Africa, and no one seems to link them to 2012 and doomsday. Or the bombing in Moscow. very strange what people pick and choose for conspiracies to focus on.

Perhaps if we mailed the super secret government weather changing facilities to nicely stop messing with our weather politely they would stop?

Just kidding. But it might be a cycle. Alot of enviromental things seem to be cycling nowadays. But I wouldn't really be surprised. As for the comments themselves, I don't often read them as there is usually some troll saying something that would make someone uncomfortable. But then again… some of them are kind of funny:

It's not the worst weather we have had that's for sure. I know that in my state there has been worse weather back in the early 1900's. Then there was Texas where my mother lived for awhile where they had alot of heavy rain.

Yeah my mum says that the snow we have had over in the UK is nothing compared to the snow they had here in the back end of the 40's she lived on a farm and the snow was that deep it went upto the window ledge :/ can you imagine :O that lasted for about 3 months so I am told.

I lived through the cold weather in the 70s and I don't see any resemblance to what is going on now. A few years ago, some climate dudes explained that "no, global warming doesn't mean a steady thawing until everything melts" but that we would be getting some "wacky" weather. "Wacky" is, of course, the technical term for "unpredictable". 2010 was the second warmest year on record and it can't be much of a shock to realize that the 2010-1 winter has been a loo-loo. Again, "loo-loo" is the technical term for "Even Grannie don't recall us gettin' this much snow in Kentucky".

During the 70s it was cold. All winter. Lots of ice. Snowmobile races. More ice. Ice on main roads. During the winter, the temperature when down below freezing and STAYED THERE. A "January thaw" happened once in awhile. Then it snowed again. What's my point? I don't remember my point, but I remember the snow. And the hot chocolate. There was nothing like burning your mouth on hot chocolate after standing outside in the winter for a couple hours watching snowmobiles go around and around in a circle. Sure, it was cold outside, and this winter has been cold, too, but back then it was cold and steady.

It's odd though, because like down here in Georgia, our temps have stayed around normal other than when it has snowed. It's getting up into the 50s again this weekend. By the way, is what you are saying is that the 70s winter was worse than this one? Ever since reading some psychic stuff where part of it had "predicted" a particularly harsh winter in addition to increasing natural disasters and some big bad thing in 2012, I can't seem to fully shake it outta my mind. Very persistent.

I remember winters with more snow and those with colder temperatures. We seem to have the a little more often than once a decade. I think it may have skipped the sixties. I don't remember any particularly bad winters then. However, we kind of made up for that in the 90's. I think it was 1994 and 1995 that we had blizzards in April. One of them was measured in feet! They were calling it the Storm of the Century. The snow was 2 ft. deep in Knoxville, TN, where I lived at the time, and 4 ft. in the mountains.
The coldest year I have experienced was in the early 80's. It was getting down to -30 F in Kansas and much colder in staes farther north. I had ice on the wall in my office at work.
