This machine is important for the science.
They simulate a Big Bang with a particle accelerator. It's very safe. :->

An incredible amount of science that one day might be part of daily life. Nuclear energy is for example such a thing learned from the experiments the beginning of the 1900s using particle accelerators. Your old TV tube was basically an particle accelerator.

But also the engineering part will be in the very near future part of the daily life.
The data processing they had to invent will become the basis of the next generations of internet.
CERN already created the www part you use right now as by-product of the experiments back then.

Hi there Diesel :)

Well in the Standard Model of Particle Physics there is something not quite right that is making everything a little off balance the missing bit of the jigsaw is the Higgs Boson a particle that if found will make the Standard Model work properly, however if it is not found they will have to take the Standard Model apart and re think the whole thing again.
